This page of the guide to Desperados 3 has the third part of the walkthrough for mission 2 - Running Late on Payday. After reaching the dynamite barrel, the heroes must use dynamite to unlock the destroyed entrance to the tunnel. Next, Cooper and McCoy must escape from the area and avoid the enemies alarmed by the explosion.
Our walkthrough for mission 2 refers to the map in the world atlas, which can be found on the first page of this chapter. For example, the designation (M2,5) indicates that you should search for the blue dot with the number 5 on the map for mission 2, and the designation (M2,3) indicates that you should search for the green dot with the number 3 on the map for mission 2.
Our walkthrough is based on hard difficulty. If you choose one of the lower levels, some actions will be easier to perform. We don't recommend choosing the Desperado difficulty for your first playthrough. Leave it for later.
You can advance to the final part of the mission after you get to the dynamite barrel on the hill (M2,17) and kill Big Ann. We also recommend that you get rid of as many bandits in the area as possible. The explosion will trigger an alarm - you will have a harder time avoiding detection.
Interact with the barrel to pick up and light a dynamite stick. Prepare to throw it (A key on PC). Aim at boulders lying on the rails in front of the locomotive and throw dynamite (left-click on PC).
The explosion will trigger the alarm and, unfortunately, this can't be avoided. If there are any bandits in this area, they will enter the alarmed state. If you "cleared" the map earlier, only a new three-person patrol will appear in this area.
Hide Cooper and McCoy in the bushes - the alarmed enemies will get to the place where you threw dynamite. Wait until their alarmed state is over - they will start patrolling the area.
This new group of enemies can make it difficult for you to complete the mission. If you want, you can get rid of them rather easily - take another dynamite and wait until the opponents get closer to the tunnel. Throw dynamite at them. The explosion should kill all 3 enemies - this will also complete one of the challenges.
The "evacuation site" is located to the left of the tracks (M2,18). If you haven't cleared it earlier, you will encounter two bandits. Fortunately, these are the "regular" enemies, and you can easily distract them with a combination of Cooper's coin and Dr. McCoy's bag. If you are in a hurry, you can also attack them in Showdown Mode.
