On this page of our game guide to Desperados 3 you will find the first part of the walkthrough of Mission 5 - The Magnificent Five. At the beginning of the task, you take control of McCoy only. Our walkthrough explains how to use a vial of poison gas for the first time, how to bypass the light sources and where to find Sanchez so he can join the team.
Our walkthrough for Mission 5 contains references to the map in World Atlas, which can be found on the first page of this chapter. For example, the marking (M5, 7) indicates that you should find the blue point 7 on the map of Mission 5.
McCoy begins this phase at the back of the main ranch building (M5,1). It should be noted here that you do not have to rush to complete this mission. Cooper, Kate, and Uncle O'Hara will continue to successfully defend themselves against attacks of Devitt's men.
The game will allow you to test the effect of Swamp Gas Vial right away. It's the new and most powerful gadget McCoy has at his disposal. Unfortunately, its use is heavily limited. However, you can use it against the first group of opponents. Enemies only lose consciousness, so after a successful attack you have to tie them up or kill them quickly.
In the next area, for the first time you will encounter the problem of light sources which are crucial due to the night time. You can extinguish the kerosene lamps. Approach the first lamp in such a way as to avoid the field of view of the opponent standing next to it.
Opponents will always notice that a kerosene lamp has been extinguished and turned off. They will focus their eyes on the extinguished lamp and will try to lit it again. You can use this opportunity to attack enemies by a surprise and that's how you should behave in the situation described in this section.
Another location visited during the initial part of the mission is the shed (M5,3). Here, for the first time, you will come across a guard that patrols the area with a burning kerosene lamp. There are two solutions to this problem - you can kill this opponent or stay away from him. The lamp will illuminate the area and increase the risk of detection.
Your objective is to get into the area with the Cattle Pen (M5,12). It is best to use a doctor's bag on an opponent guarding the passageway while a guard equipped with a lamp will set off in the opposite direction. After waiting a few moments, you can also get rid of the enemy with the lamp. Additionally, watch out for the bandit at the shed who may be looking at the passageway. Run through when it's safe.
Stay away from the Long Coat opponent standing in the pen (M5,12), because you will only deal with him later after you get control of Sanchez. Focus on sneaking to the side passage (M5,4) that allows you to bypass the Cattle Pen. Don't rush it - wait until a new enemy equipped with kerosene lamp will walk away.
You may encounter a new bandit with a lamp, and it's easy to distract him by throwing the doctor's bag.
The goal of your destination is the house by the water (M5,2) and on your way to it you must avoid a group of opponents standing by a campfire - fortunately, just can sneak through the range of their field of view. The building is locked and you have to take advantage of McCoy's unique ability that allows him to lockpick the door. After you successfully open the building, Sanchez will become a playable character. He will join the team during this mission.
