On this page of our Genshin Impact guide, we describe another weekly boss battle, this time against Raiden Shogun. To be able to fight her, you need to complete the Archon Quest from Chapter 2, Act 3, and complete her personal task.
Raiden Shogun Location
Raiden Shogun can be found in Inazuma region, in Grand Narukami Shrine to be exact. On the lower floors of the Shrine, you'll notice a purple barrier that blocks the way forward.
To be able to pass through, you need to have an electric charge from Electrograna, which is found on upper floors.
Jump on the platform shown in the screenshot and interact with Electrograna to get the electric charge.
With it, you'll be able to cross the barrier and enter the Raiden Shogun arena.
Keep in mind that for this boss to be available, you need to complete Archon Quest from Chapter 2, Act 3 and unlock and complete Raiden Shogun personal task, Imperatrix Umbrosa Chapter: Act II. The quest requires a key that is received for completing 8 Daily Commissions.
Rewards
For defeating a weekly boss, your guaranteed reward will be 300 Adventure EXP. Depending on the difficulty level you've chosen for the encounter, you may have a higher chance of looting reagents or artifacts of higher rarity. One of the possible items you can loot is Northlander Billets, which is a key ingredient for crafting higher-quality weapons. Finally, you'll receive unique materials, such as Mudra of Malefic General, Tears of the Calamitous God, or The Meaning of Aeons.
General tips
- To be able to receive rewards for this fight, you need to spend 60 Original Resin points.
- First of all, bring at least one Electro character for this fight. He will be needed to activate Flower of Remembrance. Destroying the flower during a certain phase of the fight creates a barrier that protects you from a powerful attack that may kill you on the spot.
- Additionally, it is recommended to have Cryo or Pyro characters in the team to create powerful reactions and quickly deprive Raiden Shogun of her shield.
- If Raiden Shogun misses with her attacks, the Baleful Shadowlord gauge won't fill up that fast. Therefore, it is good to have a hero in the team that provides others with shields, such as Diona or Zhongli.
- With the Baleful Shadowlord bar filled in full, Raiden Shogun transforms into a new entity that is much more powerful than her initial form. She will get new attacks, and additionally, the ability to surround herself with an Electro shield that is best taken care of by heroes of Cryo or Pyro elements.
- To take care of the boss quickly, you should let her transform. One of her attacks summons 4 clones. Keep in mind that the clones' attacks take the form of vertical, line slashes, while the real boss among the clones attacks with an X-shaped slash. If you managed to discern the real enemy, attack her to stun her.
- After depriving the boss of her shield while in Baleful Shadowlord form, attack with everything you got. It is best to wait with launching your Elemental Bursts for this occasion, as this is when she will be stunned for a longer time and will additionally receive increased damage.
How to beat?
Before initiating the fight against Raiden Shogun, it is best to equip various meal buffs. Especially resistance to Electro damage will come in handy.
At the very beginning of the fight, it is worth using skills that give Shields to your hero or rest of the team. This will not only prevent Raiden from filling her Baleful Shadowlord bar faster, but you'll additionally mitigate very serious damage that is caused by her attacks.
In addition to standard attacks that are signaled well in advance, Raiden Shogun in phase 1 can summon Electroculi. Once they appear, deal with them quickly. If you don't do it in time, the orbs will explode, dealing serious damage to everyone in range of the blast. Moreover, if you destroy Electroculi, Raiden Shogun will become stunned. This is a great opportunity to get close to her and deal damage.
Another attack of the boss involves creating 4 clones. Only one of them is the real boss. It is easy to distinguish the clone from the real thing, as copies attack with a single slash. In case of real Raiden Shogun, the attack will constitute 2 slashes, creating an "X". Don't lose time and approach her quickly after her slashes and attack. If you do that, you'll stun the boss.
Unfortunately, no matter what you do, you'll have to face the real form of Raiden Shogun. Even if you skillfully avoided receiving damage, the Baleful Shadowlord bar will fill up on its own. In this form, the boss receives access to new attacks, and additionally can cast an Electro shieldon herself. The best and fastest way to destroy the shield is using Pyro or Cryo.
The most dangerous attack of the boss in this form is summoning a large hand wielding a sword. It is easy to recognize that this attack is incoming, as Raiden Shogun will dissapear from the arena, and in the middle of it, a Flower of Remembrance will appear. You need to destroy it right away - Electro does best here.
If you succeed (and in the case of Electro, a single attack will do the job) a barrier will be created around the team. Stay in its range until Raiden Shogun concludes her attack. If you go outside the barrier or haven't managed to destroy the flower in time, you'll be knocked down. This will deprive you of all your HP.
Another dangerous attack is summoning electrical pillars resembling spears. When they are impaled into the ground, a shockwave will be created. When this attack is coming, it is better to switch to defense rather than attack the boss mindlessly. Instead of attacking, jump every time the shockwave is close. Thanks to this, you'll avoid serious damage. Additionally, you can equip a shield to stay alive.
If you manage to destroy the Electro shield of Baleful Shadowlord, right away quickly approach the boss and go all in with attacks, best using Elemental Burst and Elemental Skill. After removing the shield, she will be stunned, and will receive more damage.
If you don't manage to defeat her in the period after destroying the shield, you'll most likely have to through the forms phase again.
