The reason for visions in the Iki Island DLC
The visions are tied to a specific character - The Eagle, the main antagonist of the Iki Island DLC. You'll directly encounter the Mongol leader for the first time during a story quest The Eagle's Cry. In this quest, Jin is poisoned by The Eagle. She drugs the protagonist with a substance that's supposed to turn him into one of her shamans.
From this point forward, you'll be experiencing various visions - some of them are scripted, others happen at random times or are connected to exploring specific locations.
The main types of visions
All visions have something in common - they can distract you and interrupt you while you're trying to do something you've planned before. Fortunately, the solution to them is always the same - waiting until the vision ends. You don't need to do anything specific to make them go away.
The most common visions are The Eagle's monologues, which are accompanied by various visual distortions.
Some of the visions trigger as a result of various discoveries made while exploring the world. The main character can, for example, find corpses or other victims of The Eagle's poison. The vision will trigger if you interact with the specific discovery.
During the visions you may encounter important characters with a personal connection to Jin. Primarily, this will be his deceased father, who uses the visions to "communicate" with his son. Later you can also encounter other important characters from the main game in your visions, such as Lord Shimura.
During some of the visions you need to fight imaginary opponents. These fights are, fortunately, short and aren't considered boss fights.
How to get rid of visions?
We have some bad news for you - the visions will keep appearing until you finish all the main quests in the expansion. They only disappear after finishing The Blessing of Death main quest, after defeating the DLC's final boss and watching the post-battle cutscenes.
Flashbacks
What's interesting about the visions is that in the expansion Iki Island you can encounter flashbacks which function similarly to those in the base game.
You can, for example, play through several of Jin's memories, during which you control the younger version of him. Those scenes tell you about the relationship between Jin and his father, and about the kind of ruler Kazumasa was. All of those memories are pretty short and contain a single interaction each.
