ACNH: How to play? Animal Crossing guide, tips

Last update: 12 November 2021

In Animal Crossing, we can perform various activities. It's up to us which ones we will focus on. Check this list of example activities:

  1. Fishing
  2. Catching insects
  3. Crafting
  4. Talking to neighbours
  5. Collecting raw materials
  6. Filling the museum's collection
  7. Searching for dinosaur bones
  8. Planting flowers and trees
  9. Visiting other islands
  10. Participating in tournaments and local events

You can spend even a few hours a day on each of these activities. In practice, you're going to do a little bit of everything.

We definitely recommend performing a specific list of tasks at the start of each day. This will save you from lacking resources in the future and other unpleasantries. Why? Each day, you can find four fossils buried on your island. If you completely ignore them, then once you decide to fill the museum collection, you won't be able to quickly make up for the lost time as the day and night cycle will limit you.

Do what you want. But create a fruit orchard. Its worth it! - ACNH: How to play? - Gameplay mechanics - Animal Crossing New Horizons Guide
Do what you want. But create a fruit orchard. It's worth it!

What's the most important thing to remember is that there is no specific required style of playing Animal Crossing. It's best to just do what we enjoy. For some people, this will mostly include crafting new furniture and using them to decorate the house and its surroundings. For others, the best part of Animal Crossing will be filling the musem collection and they will focus on catching fish and insects and looking for fossils. Both approaches are perfectly fine.
