Play as you like. It's easier to play the game every day, but it's not necessary true in every case.

Animal Crossing is a game in which the time of day or year corresponds to the one that is at that moment in reality. Some things, such as the time of fruit ripening or erecting buildings, may last a few days, so it is worth checking your island every day and perform at least the most urgent tasks (how to start a day in the game has been explained on another page of our guide). But does that mean I have to play every day?

No, play as long as you like. Just enjoy the game as long as you prefer. If you can't switch on your console on a certain day, then relax. Nothing bad is about to happen. You'll lose an opportunity to dig out some fossils or get raw materials, but since AC is a game that can be played for months there is no rush. Just perform all those tasks after you have returned to the game.
