On this page you'll learn what purpose does lime spreading serve in Farming Simulator 22, when to do it and how to get lime.
What is lime spreading?
Lime spreading is supposed to provide optimal acidity to the soil. This is done occasionally and has nothing to do with fertilizing: your yield will decrease if you don't provide the soil with lime when necessary. By scattering lime you'll cancel this "penalty" but you'll still need to perform double fertilizing to maximize the yield from harvesting. Fields requiring lime are marked on the map with the turquoise color. You can turn on periodic lime spreading in the options menu - it's enabled by default. You'll have to provide your fields with lime every 3 harvests.
How to spread lime on the field?
To lime the field you need a spreader: they can be bought in the shop's Fertilizer spreaders tab. There are only two machines used for lime spreading in the base game, both of the Bredal brand - K105 and K165, the only difference between them being capacity. Both machines can also be equipped with a spreader system which increases the width of their working area by 6m (selectable during the purchase or by modifying the machine in the workshop).
To use the machine you must attach it to the tractor, fill it and start it. Turn off the spreader when driving outside of the field to save lime, use high-power tractors to constantly work at full speed (the spreaders use lime every second they work).
Filling the machine with lime
To fill the machine you can buy lime in bags from the store and on palettes. This option is expensive though: it's cheaper to find a lime station on the map which will fill your machine with as much lime as you want, cheaper and quicker. Remember to open the lid of the machine beforehand.
