God of War: Valkyrie Rota (Helheim) - how to beat? God of War Guide and Walkthrough

Last update: 19 August 2022

On this page of the God of War game guide you will find the description of the battle with the Valkyrie Rota located in Helheim. The following guide explains where to find Rota and how to defeat this powerful optional boss.

Valkyrie Rota - whereabouts

Valkyrie Rota resides in one of the games hidden chambers - God of War: Valkyrie Rota (Helheim) - how to beat? - Valkyries - God of War Guide

Valkyrie Rota resides in one of the game's hidden chambers. This chamber is located in Helheim and can be found for the first time during the exploration of Helheim together with Atreus during Escape from Helheim main quest. Of course, you can also return to Helheim after completing this quest.

The entrance to the hidden chamber is located in the place in the picture above - this is the location where the main character has to detonate the red crystals in order to unlock the secret passage.

Fight preparations and description of the duel with Valkyrie Rota

Its worth preparing for the duel with Rota and the recommended steps are described in detail on the introduction page of this chapter - God of War: Valkyrie Rota (Helheim) - how to beat? - Valkyries - God of War Guide

It's worth preparing for the duel with Rota and the recommended steps are described in detail on the introduction page of this chapter. As a reminder, it is highly recommended to get the best possible armor (by completing all the favors for the Brok and Sindri dwarves) and enchant your melee weapon with the best (optimally epic) runes available.

Additionally, before reaching the Valkyrie's lair, it's a good idea to equip the berserker's resurrection stone (it allows you to resurrect Kratos once with maximum fury) and to fully charge up the rage bar in order to be able to use it after the start of the duel with Rota.

You can start a duel with Rota by attacking the boss before it engages into combat. Rota is very mobile and prefers to launch attacks with jumps and a series of long charges (e.g. three charges in a row). Valkyrie also performs aerial attacks, in which it is best to jump away to the side to avoid taking heavy damage.

If Rota has successfully landed on Kratos after a high jump, a QTE will be triggered (example is shown in the attached picture), during which you must quickly press the button shown on the screen. This will allow you not to lose a lot of health points.

It is best to play offensively all the time, not letting the boss perform special attacks too often. Spartan Rage can also help weaken Rota by activating it at the right moment of the fight.

Rota uses several different types of red attacks and if you notice this color then the only solution is to dodge quickly, as these attacks cannot be stopped.
