Master Sword is the best weapon in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This page of the guide explains how to complete the main quests Trail of the Master Sword and Recovering the Hero's Sword. You'll learn how to access the Great Hyrule Forest and how to heal the Deku Tree. We'll explain how to defeat the Gloom Hands, Phantom Ganon and where to find the Light Dragon.

How to find the Master Sword?

You'll unlock Trail of the Master Sword after completing the main quest Find the Fifth Sage. You need at least two full Stamina wheels to get the Master Sword.

How to enter the Great Hyrule Forest?

Purah at Lookout Landing will suggest you to head to Great Hyrule Forest and talk to the Deku Tree. Unfortunately, the area is entirely overtaken by Gloom. You can't enter the forest or access it from above with the Paraglider. The only way inside the Korok Forest is from below.

How to talk to the Deku Tree?

Enter the tree and jump into the Chasm inside. Before the fight in the Depths, make sure you have Gloom-healing food or potions that can protect you from it.

How to defeat the Gloom Hands?

After reaching the Depths, you'll be immediately attacked by Gloom Hands. Summon all the Sages and start firing away at them with Bomb Flower-fused arrows. You can also use Riju's ability to shock all hands at once.

Fusing Keese Eyeballs or other homing items to your arrows will also stun the Hands for a moment.

How to defeat Phantom Ganon?

Defeating the Gloom Hands will spawn a Phantom Ganon. Fortunately, you'll face only a single one.

Phantom Ganon has the same moveset as it had before. You can defeat it quickly through Perfect Dodging and Flurry Rushes. You can also climb onto higher ground, jump down and fire tons of arrows at its head while falling.

After the fight, return to the Deku Tree and interact with the small stump at its root to complete the quest. You'll unlock the main quest Recovering the Hero's Sword.

How to find the Light Dragon and pull out the Master Sword?

The Light Dragon holding the Master Sword is constantly moving. Check the objective marker on the map and jump on its head from the nearest Skyview Tower.

You may have troubles landing straight on its head. You'll be getting constantly elevated by an updraft. Try to land on its back first and then climb on its head.
