In the Valhalla DLC story for God of War Ragnarok, Tyr invites his former companion Kratos to the titular Valhalla. Kratos, who is still struggling to adapt to his new role as God of Peace, takes Mimir with him to confront the demons of his past. In between trials, you'll have to face Tyr multiple times - with each battle, the boss is equipped with a different weapon and has access to new skills.

First fight with Tyr

During the first clash, Tyr fights with a spear and shield - God of War Ragnarok Valhalla: Tyr - Valhalla DLC - God of War Ragnarok Guide

During the first clash, Tyr fights with a spear and shield. Tyr will parry most of your attacks, so to get him open, break his guard (2x L1) every time you notice blue circles. Moreover, watch out for his unavoidable attack, where Tyr thrusts his spear into the ground, causing area of effect damage - you need to dodge away from the attack range.

Tyr also uses different combinations of attacks - one of them consists of 4 blows - the 3 initial ones can be blocked, but the final one is a red attack, which means it cannot be parried. When the boss's health drops below 50%, he will summon some aides. Avoid enemy attacks and parry them to stun the opponent, perform counters, and Tyr should fall soon.

Second fight with Tyr

In the second clash, Tyr equips a powerful two-handed weapon that resembles the Aztec Macuahuitl - God of War Ragnarok Valhalla: Tyr - Valhalla DLC - God of War Ragnarok Guide

In the second clash, Tyr equips a powerful two-handed weapon that resembles the Aztec Macuahuitl. The second battle is more difficult than the first one - attacks on Tyr that land will deal less damage than in the first clash.

Because of the equipped weapon, the boss's attacks are slower, and he is harder to stun. In the course of the fight, Tyr will attack with combinations, some of them ending with a red attack which has to be dodged.

Tyr will also employ blood magic, creating levitating blood orbs - these can be easily avoided - God of War Ragnarok Valhalla: Tyr - Valhalla DLC - God of War Ragnarok Guide

Tyr will also employ blood magic, creating levitating blood orbs - these can be easily avoided. Blood orbs are often accompanied by an attack where Tyr creates orange circles on the ground that are then sent toward Kratos. The easiest way to avoid them is to get away from the opponent - there you should notice an idle moment during the attack where you can perform a dodge.

Once the boss's health falls below 50%, he will summon some aides that have to be defeated before they manage to approach Tyr and heal him. Once Tyr is back into the battle, he will return to the already known combinations, so as the time progresses you should be able to emerge victorious from the fight.

Third fight with Tyr

In the third clash, Tyr uses two sickle-shaped swords, Khopeshes - God of War Ragnarok Valhalla: Tyr - Valhalla DLC - God of War Ragnarok Guide

In the third clash, Tyr uses two sickle-shaped swords, Khopeshes. In the first moments of the battle, be ready to avoid a jump attack, and after it, return with attacks of your own.

In this fight, Tyr is much faster and gains improved mobility, performing fast attacks, and can teleport himself away from Kratos to attack from unexpected positions - listen to Mirmir's tips to avoid receiving damage.

During the battle, avoid combinations of blows that end with red attacks - God of War Ragnarok Valhalla: Tyr - Valhalla DLC - God of War Ragnarok Guide

During the battle, avoid combinations of blows that end with red attacks. Once the boss's health is below 50%, Tyr will disappear from the battlefield, summon aides, and cover a large portion of the arena in darkness - look for pillars of light to reach the unobscured parts of the arena to locate the enemies and Tyr again. Stay within the illuminated part of the arena and continue fighting - the boss should fall soon.

The fourth and final fight with Tyr

The final clash with Tyr is a really tough and complex fight, and the purple health bar suggests that the opponent is at a higher level than the hero - God of War Ragnarok Valhalla: Tyr - Valhalla DLC - God of War Ragnarok Guide

The final clash with Tyr is a really tough and complex fight, and the purple health bar suggests that the opponent is at a higher level than the hero. This time Tyr will fight with a Katana, which he can use to perform complex attacks, jumps and combos, as well as fire ice projectiles. It should be mentioned that in this clash, Tyr can switch weapons to those that he used during previous battles. Moreover, Tyr can clone himself (the real enemy glows).

When the boss's health drops below 50%, a Centaur and smaller enemies will appear, helping Tyr in combat - God of War Ragnarok Valhalla: Tyr - Valhalla DLC - God of War Ragnarok Guide

When the boss's health drops below 50%, a Centaur and smaller enemies will appear, helping Tyr in combat. Centaur is quite difficult to fight, as Tyr from time to time reappears in the arena and attacks Kratos from different angles (pay attention to markers signalling that an attack is going to take place). Try to eliminate the Centaur as fast as possible so you can return to fighting Tyr.

The rest of the fight will proceed in the same way as the first phase - God of War Ragnarok Valhalla: Tyr - Valhalla DLC - God of War Ragnarok Guide

The rest of the fight will proceed in the same way as the first phase. Tyr will use the same attacks, so be patient, make counterattacks and wait for the right moment to attack, and you will emerge victorious from this clash.
