At certain point in Resident Evil 4 Remake, you will come across a trapped dog. On this page, you will find out if in the remake, as in the original, it is possible to free an animal from a trap, and if the dog can help you win the fight with El Gigante.
The following page of the guide contains minor spoilers about the location of the dog in the remake. It's executed slightly differently from the 2005 version of RE4 .
Location of the dog
The circumstances of the first encounter with the dog are different in the remake.
You will not meet a living dog on the way to the village in the first minutes of the game. Leon will come across a dead trapped animal, but that doesn't mean you won't save any dogs.
You must advance to chapter 3. You will start it inside the Village Chief's Manor, where Leon finds the Insignia Key.
When you leave the building, do not open the gate with the newly acquired key.You will hear a dog whining - head to the right and you will come across a trapped animal in the northern area.
Freeing the dog from the trap
Releasing the dog from the trap is very simple - just walk up to it and press the interaction button. The animal will escape.
Dog's help in fighting El Gigante
As in the original, the rescued dog helps Leon fight El Gigante, the boss from chapter 4.
The dog will appear in the quarry at some point during the fight and will distract the boss. This will make shooting the tentacle located on El Gigante's body much easier.
