Starting tasks and determining the whereabouts of Giancola
To start the task, you must have Pallegine in your team and go to the Sacred Stair (M14) in Neketaka - exactly in the vicinity of the Spire of the Soul-Seers (look at the above picture). At this point, Pallegina will automatically start a dialogue with you and ask for help in finding Giacola. The first place to visit is the Spire of the Soul-Seers.
Go to the roof of the Spire of the Soul-Seers and find Flaune Elette there. Talk to her about Giacola - you will learn that he can stay in the Tavern (M22) in The Gullet (M12).
At the Hole Inn (M22), go to the second floor - visit the demolished room there. After entering, the dialogue with Pallegina will start automatically. Go back to the first floor and talk to the Fyrna barmaid - from her you will learn that Giacola is probably in the Undercroft (M20) location.
How to get to the Undercroft location?
(M20) The easiest way to Undercroft is going through the Narrows, located in the Gullet (M12) - they've been marked on the map above. When entering the Narrows, you'll see a scripted interaction in which you can decide in which direction you are moving. To get to the facilities, choose the following options: right, straight, examine the stall, go through the stall.
Then, you'll meet a group of bandits. You can attack them, give a bribe in the form of 50 coins or use special dialogue options for Diplomacy 4 / Bluffing 3. Regardless of your choice, you'll get to Back Office - you'll find, among others, black market' traders offering unique items.
Note - the 'examine the stall' option in the scripted interaction is related to the skill test of your main character. If the attempt is unsuccessful, then you can go to Undercroft in another, much more dangerous way. You have to go to the Old City (M21) (using the lift at the Gullet) and find the second entrance to Undercroft there. Take a look at the Old City (M21) page to check the exact location map.
Follow Giacola in Undercroft
In Undercroft (M20), go to the Imuani store. There you'll find the soul visible in the picture above - activate it, which will allow you to get information about Giacola's whereabouts. It will turn out that he was kidnapped by Tatzatla to the island Dunnage. The island is far away from Neketaka, so you must use the ship. Dunnage will be added to the "Known places" tab and will be discovered on the world map, so you can easily find them.
Meeting with Tatzatl
After arriving to the island Dunnage, you will find yourself in the district of Lifter's Refuge - there is only one house available for sightseeing. It is located opposite the place where you start the game in this location. Entrance to the house is blocked at first - you have to talk to a character named Li'l Woody. He stands just in front of the door and, after a short conversation, will let your team in.
There the conversation with Tatzatl will begin. You can fight and try to free Giacol, but it's very difficult, because the Tatzatl's group will immediately attack Giacol, which gives you little chance to save him. It's better to resolve the conflict without bloodshed. To do this, you must answer Tatzatl's questions correctly:
- For starters, you will be asked if a woman abbreviating her child's torment is doing right or wrong - the correct answer is "OK".
- Next, you have to say what you would do with powerful technology - the correct answer is "I will make it universally and freely available".
- Next, you have to decide how you would react if your enemy was persecuted - the correct answer is "I let persecution continue".
- At the end you will be asked if you would kill a person who doing good can also do a lot of evil - the correct answer is "I do not kill".
The choices made in the conversation affect Tatzatl's decision - by choosing the above options you will make Giacola to be released together with his research. By choosing other options, you can destroy Giacola's research ("I will not risk it, I will destroy it" in question No. 2) or even death ("Yes" in question No. 4). If you've chosen options with destructive testing, you can still convince Tatzatl not to do so, using special dialogue options requiring: Bluff 8 + Metaphysics 5 or Diplomacy 8 + Intellect 14.
If you've solved the conflict without bloodshed, then after the conversation, you will automatically move with Giacola outside. After a short conversation, you'll receive a reward - a unique Amulet with a heart bell.
