ISLAND – Path leading to the main map of the island.
You begin here after crashing the ship. You can recruit Eder.
You can get to the main deck using Athletics skill or Rope and Grappling Hook (the item can be found in a nearby crate). Irrena needs help - you can rescue her.
All rescued or found crew members go to the campsite.
Exit from the beach.
The path leads to the island map. You can encounter Eld Engrim and Vela here.
The path is leading to the cave (M2). Chitupec may be standing here if he didn't die in the ship crash.
You can get here only by travelling through the cave (M2). There are a ghost pirate and a chest with treasures here.
The map shown in the picture above presents the layout of the location known as Vilario's Rest. This is the first fully-fledged instance that can be visited after launching the campaign in Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire. The main character ends up on a beach after his ship crashes (you cannot prevent this). This is one of the few locations which you can visit on the Island of Port Maje. You will encounter only one hostile creature here. You can, however, divert your efforts towards collecting some treasures and meeting several crew members (including those who are no longer alive).
Important locations in Vilario's Rest
1. The starting position. This place is where you will start your adventure with PoE 2 Deadfire. A conversation with Eder will begin instantly, and it worth allowing him to join your group.
2. The shipwreck. You cannot sail away from the island until you fix the ship as part of the Stranded main quest.
You can climb on board by using Athletics or the grappling hook (which can be found in a nearby chest). Irrena needs your help - you can save her as part of the Helping Hands side quest.
5. The cave on the beach. The path leads to the Sea Cave (M2). On the way there you will run into a Young Boar and meet Chitupec (only if he has not died after the ship had been destroyed). Exploring the cave itself is optional. It is definitely worth having a look at it if you wish to save all of the crew members as part of the Helping Hands side quest.

Other information related to Vilario's Rest
This is the starting location of the Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire and, therefore, you should not expect any major complications. The only threat is the (weak) boar and the fight against it will mostly serve you as a means of getting to know the basic mechanics of the combat system (or recalling them).
Do not rush to leave the beach and reach the actual island. It is worth visiting the Sea Cave before advancing, in order to fully complete the Helping Hands side quest (in the cave itself you will be drawn into several simple skirmishes and there will be new treasures for you to discover).
After settling all of the matters connected to the Stranded main quest, you can return to the beach and sail away. Only at this moment is the option of free travel around the world of the game unlocked (you can of course return to the Island of Port Maje later on in the game).
