Unlocking the quest
You can start this mission after cleansing the Shiroyama Shrine. This can happen while completing Chapter 2. A quest marker should automatically appear on the map.
This quest is obtained from the Man Who Can't Go Home, a ghost levitating by one of the side alleys.
Search for the "hole that swallows up everything"
Go to the area marked on the map - it's the building at the end of the alley (pictured above). On your way to approach it, Visitors will appear and you will be forced to fight them. You can dispatch these enemies in any way you like. After the battle, head inside the building through the entrance.
Investigate the hoarder's house
You will have to investigate the house, which involves checking the specter's hiding places. In each of these locations, you have to complete a hand seal puzzle, i.e. repeat the displayed movement sequences.
The specter's first hiding spot is under the low table from the screenshot.
The specter's second hiding spot is in the fridge from the screenshot, which is located in the kitchen.
The specter's third hiding spot is the bathroom mirror from the screenshot.
The specter's fourth hiding spot is on the upper floor. Reach the sliding door from the screenshot. You will discover the final hand seal by interacting with it.
Make your way back downstairs. You will find the specter in the living room, where the TV will suddenly turn on. Talk to the specter.
Defeat all enemies
You will be transferred to the arena, where you will have to fight different types of Visitors. Remember a few things here:
- Keep your enemies at a distance and rely on blocks and sprint to avoid their attacks.
- Either focus on attacking single Visitors or target groups with charged attacks. Try to weaken them so that you can grab and tear out their cores (but only when it's safe to do so!).
- If necessary, destroy the Crystallized Ether in the area (replenishing the energy reserves needed to use power) and heal yourself with the help of your medications.
Purge the Specter
After winning the battle, approach the specter to play the final hand seal mini-game.
You will return to the hoarder's house. You can either optionally investigate it (for collectibles and regular loot) or immediately exit the building to complete the quest.
