The initial appearance of the Pale Reach map

1. Exploring the icy Pale Reach is difficult at first. By default, no islands or locations are visible on the map. Instead, only red circles and a question mark are visible, indicating the possibility of visiting a new DLC location.

How to get the map of the area?

1. After entering Pale Reach from the north, you will reach a boat with the Photographer, who will give you the Narwhal quest. Its full description can be found on a separate page of the guide.
2. As part of the quest, you must deliver a particular number of fish. This will cause the Narwhal creature to appear and destroy the ice barrier.

1. Getting rid of the barrier will unlock the possibility to explore the central part of the archipelago.
2. Sail south and moor at the Central Camp, as shown in the attached picture.

1. Choose Frozen Cabin as your destination. You will learn that the protagonist has found the map and the main world map will be automatically supplied with the new DLC region.

1. From now on, you can use the DLC location map. This will make it easier for you to track progress regarding exploring locations and to discover 100% of Pale Reach.
