Flames of the Deep is a quest to obtain 3 Fathomless Flames in the Devil's Spine region of the Dredge game. The description from our guide tells you how to deliver fish and crabs to Rock Slabs, including 2 pieces of Malformed Fish. We also hint at how to use Fathomless Flames on statues and how to get Antique Pocket Watch.

The Pursuit mission called Flames of the Deep forces you to find the Fathomless Flames in Dredge. Unlocking the quest - Fathomless Flames

The Flames of the Deep Pursuit can be unlocked in Devil's Spine, so in the north-eastern part of the world map.
You have to reach the Ancient Temple. Talk to the NPC Fanatic. You will learn from him that you need to obtain 3 Fathomless Flames. They will be used to light a fire at 3 Statues.
There are 3 Rock Slab locations to visit, all described below. Different species of fish must be delivered to each Rock Slab.
Aggressive red fish may harass you as you travel around Devil's Spine. Always wait for a larger group of them to appear, alternatively one larger fish that will try to ram the ship. Use the Banish ability (reward for delivering a relic from Stellar Basin to the Collector) to drive away the monsters. It is important to activate it late, because it has a long cooldown.
Explosives can help you destroy rock barricades and thus, move around, but using them is not mandatory. You can also reach the rock slabs by choosing narrow passages in the ruins.
North Rock Slab - delivering Malformed Fish

This slab is the northernmost X on the map, which is the one closest to the Ancient Ruins.
You will learn about the need to deliver 2 Malformed Fish. It's about Aberrations fish, which are unique purple specimens that you can catch instead of standard fish species.
Visit Devil's Spine fishing spots and fish until you come across some Aberration - in the picture it's Ossified Searobin as a unique variation of Armored Searobin.
You have to deliver 2 Aberration fish to the Rock Slab - move them to the purple slots.
You will get Fathomless Game and Encrusted Talisman - this artifact can be placed in slots reserved for rods and speeds up fishing by as much as 330%. It requires 2x2 free slots.
Middle Rock Slab - delivering 2 fish

This slab can be found by the the middle X on the map. You can reach it from the east.
When visiting these fishing spots, you will need to obtain 2 specific fish. These are:
- Ghost Shark - an Abyssal fishing rod required;
- Pale Skate - a Volcanic fishing rod required.

Return with the specimens to the Rock Slab and place them in suitable slots, as shown in the picture above.
You'll get Fathomless Game, 2x Refined Metal and 1x Research Part.
South Rock Slab - delivering 2 crabs

This plate is the southernmost X on the map, thus the one closest to Charred Pontoon.
You need to catch 2 specific specimens using Crab Pots cages. The easiest way to buy them is in Charred Pontoon (Fish Market menu).
Select the cages from the drop-down menu and drop them near the trader's shop. Thanks to this, you can easily return to them and easily save the game in the store so that you do not lose the obtained items.
Using Crab Pots, you need to catch:
- a Squat Lobster;
- a spider crab.
Return with these specimens to the Rock Slab and place them in proper slots, as shown in the picture above.
You will get Fathomless Game as well as Lumber, a Research Part and Goblet.
Placing Fathomless Flames near the statues
With all 3 Fathomless Flames, return to the Ancient Temple and select the Statues. Choose statues in any order. With each of them, you have to move the Fathomless Flame to the Stone Crucible (left slot).
Talking to Fanatic and getting Antique Pocket Watch
Select Fanatic from the temple screen and tell him about delivering the Fathomless Flames.
At the end of the encounter, Fanatic will disappear - select the Inspect the pyre option and you'll find an Antique Pocket Watch relic, which you can take to the Collector.
