Our Diablo 4 guide explains whether you can choose the gender of your character and change it later in the game. You will also learn how to change the appearance of your gear while maintaining the stats of the best items you have.
Gender selection
In the game, you can choose one of two genders, i.e. Body Types. You make this decision before you move on to choosing the details of your character's appearance. This option is available for all character classes, so you can play as a female Barbarian or Necromancer.
Unfortunately, this is a final decision - it is not possible to change gender after finishing the character creator.
Wardrobe
During the game, you can change your character's appearance with a Wardrobe. You will find it in the hero's room, which is located in Kyovashad.
The Appearance tab has the following options:
- Makeup,
- Jewellery,
- Markings.
Other options from the character creator aren't available.
In the Wardrobe tab, you can change the appearance of your equipment without affecting the statistics (Transmog). That is, you can use a given item, but have it looking like a different one or turn it off completely. This won't change the stats of the item, but your character will look the way you like.
