Resistance | New game mode in Division The Division Guide

Last update: 18 December 2017

Update 1.8 added two new districts - Pier South and Pier North (described in chapter "How to reach West Side Pier"). Furthermore, a new game mode, called Resistance, was added.

What is Resistance?

When playing Resistance, you will need to spend your SHD points wisely. - Resistance | New game mode in Division - Game modes - Tom Clancys The Division Game Guide
When playing Resistance, you will need to spend your SHD points wisely.

Resistance is all about surviving for as long as possible. Players (or a single player if you prefer to paly alone) will find themselves in a closed area, where their task is to defend against incoming enemy waves. What makes this mode unique, is that you fight against all the available types of opponents at the same time - it's possible that you will face enemies with flamethrowers and a group of soldiers. After each defeated wave, you will only have a short break before another wave arrives. The whole procedure will repeat until you finally get killed.

During the gameplay, you will gain SHD points, which can be spent in several ways. You can upgrade your turrets, unlock further parts of the map, or replenish your ammo and medkits. Each fallen opponent drops some SHD points (marked with a blue light). If you want to succeed in this mode, you need to collect these points.

However, things are not always that easy, and certain waves have special features, such as:

  1. Contamination -the battlefield will become contaminated, which means that players will lose health constantly.
  2. Additional task - you will have to perform an additional task. The indicator will show you the location.
  3. EMP disruption - every few seconds a disruption will take place. This will disable your abilities and make the interface illegible.
  4. Every 5 waves comes a "boss round" - a boss (an enemy with a unique name) will enter the battlefield.

Remember - you will receive 1 equipment cache for every 5 waves you survive. Your cache will contain several High-End weapons or Set items.

Resistance Mode - useful tips

Every couple waves, contamination will increase significantly - when that happens, you should stick close to your teammates and heal one another. - Resistance | New game mode in Division - Game modes - Tom Clancys The Division Game Guide
Every couple waves, contamination will increase significantly - when that happens, you should stick close to your teammates and heal one another.

At this point, Resistance is the hardest mode available - in order to reach higher waves, one needs to use specific abilities, know the gameplay, and cooperate with the team. It's good to stick to the following rules:

  1. The key to success is using the right abilities. Regardless of your preferences, Support Station (with Life Support Mod) and Recovery Link are a must-have. The first ability will let you restore your health constantly and diminish the negative effects of increasing contamination. On the other hand, the second ability will be very helpful during critical moments when one needs to increase heath immediately, and/or revive a fallen companion.
  2. Like no other mode, the Resistance focuses on Skill Power. It affects the effectiveness of your abilities, and thus it directly increases the amount of health restored by Support Station. High Skill Power and Rapid (reduces cooldown) will easily limit the greatest threat of this mode - Contamination.
  3. Collect SHD points dropped by your enemies. Fallen opponent leave a blue light - just run through it and collect more points.
  4. When a wave of increased Contamination begins, stick close to your team. It's good to stand close to one another, and use abilities that restore health (especially Support Station). This will greatly increase your chance of surviving.
  5. Although you can spend SHD points in different ways, it doesn't mean you should waste them. Decide with your team, which entrance you would like to unlock, and save your precious resources in case you run out of ammo (you can spend SHD points and restore your ammo supply).
  6. Although it's possible to play Resistance alone, it's much easier when you play as a full squad - in case of death, one of your teammates can revive you.
  7. The Resistance Mode is a great opportunity to get valuable pieces of equipment. However, we do not recommend this place if you have just reached level 30. It's better to complete a couple of Underground missions first, and upgrade your gear.
