Getting new items is one of the most important aspects of Tom Clancy's The Division - they determine your character's effectiveness. Without the right items you won't be able to rival other players. But what about a situation when an item is all around better but it has one stat that is completely useless to your playstyle?

How does Recalibration work?

Items with Classified Set rarity can be recalibrated twice.

When that happens, you can use Recalibration which is available via special Recalibration Station that can be found in the Terminal and Camp Clinton. Thanks to this process you can change one item stat to another, randomly picked one. When it comes to armors you can change their stats such as main parameters or Damage vs Elites bonus. As for weapons, you can change one of their talents. You need a lot of money to recalibrate gear and Phoenix Credits to recalibrate weapons.

You have to remember that you can change only one stat of a particular item. After recalibrating an item, you can repeat this process as many times as you want but the only statistic that will change is the one that was already modified. The exception to that are items with Classified Set rank. They are unique and much more rare items from a set - here, you can change two stats.

Recalibration - tips

You can't recalibrate Exotic weapon talents.

Read the tips below before you start recalibrating items:

1. Remember that you can change only one stat in an item. Think really hard and don't make any rash decisions because you can greatly lower a potential effectiveness of that item.
2. Items with Classified Set rarity can have two stats recalibrated.
3. Remember that thanks to this mechanic you can adjust an item to be more suitable for your character. Even an item that, at a first glance, is useless can become highly valuable by modifying it a little bit.
4. Each recalibration increases future costs for this process.
5. If you don't have money to recalibrate an item, you can go on a few missions in Underground mode and get valuable items. Then, you can sell all useless items - thanks to that you can get even a few millions of Credits in a few hours.
6. Recalibration allows you to change weapon talents. Use this mechanism to adjust weapons to your playstyle.
7. You can't recalibrate talents in Exotic weapons - you won't be able to highlight that talent.
