This chapter starts near the Old Foundry - Main Gate, so you will first have to reach this location safely. Start by jumping down to the lowest level and find a Gear - 3G. If you have followed my suggestion, and bought the wrench at the city, after you get under the bridge, go East use the wrench and unlock the venting shaft shown in the above screenshot. In the shaft, you will find a Flask - 4G and a Syringe - 6G. What is even more, reaching the shaft exit that is the farthest away, will allow you to walk around the square and exit at the passage to the net area.

If you do not have the wrench, or you simply want to explore the first location (it is a good idea, because you can obtain several new items) you can do either of the two things. I recommend against making it over onto the bridge because, although this would allow you to go around the guard here, there still exist the risk of being spotted. Therefore, it is better to find the ladder to the left of the bridge and approach the main square this way.

Around, there are two guards, but only one of them is busy patrolling the area. This is not the only threat because, on the right, in one of the cage, there is a dog. The animal can be easily walked around now, but it is worth remembering, for future, that dogs can easily detect your character and draw guards on his head. This problem can be partially eliminated by moving very slowly around the dog but, this may, on the other hand, create further problems, especially if Garrett is staying in a well-lit area at that moment.

I recommend that you walk over to the left side of the square, to keep a safe distance from the cage. Near the sleeping guard, you will find a (locked) chest with a Choke Arrow and a Coin Purse - 12G. Also, try to search for an opportunity to rob the moving guard, because he has two Coin Purses - 3+7G on him. Wait for that opponent to go towards the bridge that you have passed earlier and go to the locked gate. Use the lockpicks to open it.

Both of the paths described above (following the venting shafts, crossing the square and opening the gate) will take you into the same spot, near a low wall. Pick up the Gear - 3G from the ground and use the claw to climb the wall, thanks to which you will enter a new location [Old Foundry - Dust Yard].

Start exploring the new big square, which is not guarded by anyone, fortunately, Around, you can find a Pocket Portrait - 4G and a Poppy, which you can use to regenerate your focus meter - Gain access to the foundry - Chapter 2: Dust to Dust - Thief - Game Guide and Walkthrough

Apart from that, I recommend that you climb onto the structure shown in the above screenshot, to take a jump onto the rooftop of a small cottage. Locate the hole in the roof of that cottage and climb down the ladder to find a Desk Bell - 12G, a Coal Room Stash Note and a ring (Memories of the Dead - Charity's Memory).

Leave the cottage and go towards the foundry building that you have been ignoring so far. Locate the spot where you can start climbing and start grabbing onto successive interactive ledges, to move first up, and then to the left. The entire path is linear, because you cannot fall anywhere, nor take any alternative path. The successive ledges take you to the entrance to the venting shaft.

Also here, there is only one path and soon you will enter a new location [Old Foundry - Office Level]. Stop after you reach the shaft's exit and wait for the guard with the torch to walk away from here. Only after that, jump down to a lower level.

Note - If you are playing the PC version, and you find it difficult to exit the shaft, remember that you need to press another key for that (by default, this is X) which is used for jumping down.
