Nether Update: new content, list

On this page of our Minecraft guide, you will find information about the Nether Update. It adds new features to the titular realm.
Release date
Nether Update debuted on June 23, 2020, on all current-generation platforms - PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch as well as iOS and Android mobile devices.
Pre-release edition
From June 18, you can download a pre-release edition of the Nether Update. It is only available for the Java version of the game. Remember that the pre-release edition can have more technical problems.
Nether Update - new content
The update adds new biomes, mobs and blocks. Notable new features:
- Netherite - a new material that is harder than diamond;
- Piglins - new traders who aren't always friendly;
- Hoglins - new animals that can strike fear or become the greatest feast.

New spell
Soul Speed is a new spell added to the game. It allows you to walk on soul sand faster without damaging your boots.
It can only be used on boots. You get it from the remnants of the bastion and by trading with the Piglins.
