This page of the guide to Borderlands 3 provides a walkthrough for Cult Following, one of the main missions. In this quest, you have to visit the Holy Broadcast Center, defeat a boss called Mouthpiece and get the vault map.
Get to Ellie's Garage location where you have to meet Ellie and learn how to unlock Catch-A-Ride stations. Go to the place marked by Ellie. You can act in two ways:
- You can pick up a parked Outrunner vehicle that isn't belonging to anyone.
- You can complete an additional mission objective and steal one of the Outrunner vehicles belonging to the enemies. To do this, shoot the driver or run to the vehicle and quickly press the interaction button. You will throw the driver out of the cab. More about that in How to hijack a vehicle? page.
Drive to the marked Catch-A-Ride station. Park your car on a rectangular plate to add it to your "collection". Catch-A-Ride stations are now available - you can interact with their terminals. You can call vehicles and change their appearance and equipment.
You have to go to the Holy Broadcast Center. Drive to the opposite end of The Droughts. There, you will find a passage to a new map - Ascension Bluff.
You need to drive a little bit more - the Holy Broadcast Center is at the opposite end of the map. Along the way, you can participate in fights and complete quests, or search for collectibles (e.g. Outrunner upgrade). The picture above shows the destination. The gate blocks the road - leave the car and go on foot.
Enter the Path of Sacrifice and move towards the large building visible in the distance. Prepare yourself, there are many enemies on this path. Watch out for, e.g. Tink Sentry. You need to run a lot and, if necessary, hide to avoid their attacks.
Enter the Holy Broadcast Center building and follow the linear path. Some larger speakers can activate for a brief moment - a foreshadowing of what awaits you in a few minutes.
Stop when you reach the place from the above image. Use the vending machine on the left before you jump into the hole. Try to replenish ammunition for all your weapons and heal the hero if your health bar isn't full.
Jump into the hole to start a boss fight with Mouthpiece.
The speakers in this battle are deadly to your character. If you get in their range when they activate, you will receive a lot of damage or even die.
Their activation is signaled by the cables on the floor turning red. You will have a few seconds to move to somewhere else. We suggest moving between the central area of the arena, where Mouthpiece stood, and those of the outer fields alternately.
Mouthpiece has a weapon that allows him to effectively attack you from a distance. Run around a lot and hide behind obstacles to avoid getting hit.
The boss holds a shield in his other hand - he uses it to hide from bullets. You can try to aim in the head or patiently wait until he reveals himself or turns his back towards you.
There are also numerous smaller opponents in the arena. Try to ignore them throughout the majority of the battle. They tend to attack you with a melee weapon, so try to move a lot - you don't want to be surrounded.
Small opponents also have additional "use". If you are knocked down, for example, by speakers, you can easily kill one of the minions (they have very short health bars) and get the Second Wind.
At certain points, Mouthpiece will become temporarily immortal. The game informs you about that by changing the color of his health bar. You will also see that he is Immune to your shots. Wait patiently until you can start damaging him again.
It is worth noting that the room where you fight with Mouthpiece has numerous boxes with a cross icon. Each of them has syringes that will heal you. Get to them fast when you are on the verge of death and you don't want to risk with getting revived.
The defeated boss drops a lot of usual loot and the Vault Map, which is a quest item. You also have to deal with the remaining minions.
Return to Lilith. You can go back in the opposite direction (on foot or by car) or use the fast travel option. Open the map, go to Orbit View, select The Droughts region, and then choose one of the active fast travel points. If you need more information, check Does the game feature fast travel? page.
