In this chapter of the Baldurs Gate 3 guide you will find all the relevant information about Rogue - one of the many character classes available in the game.

After reaching level 3, in Baldurs Gate 3, your hero will be given the option of choosing one of two specializations: Thief or Arcane Trickster. Each specialization will quite significantly affect the playing style of the character, so it is worth thinking carefully before making such an important choice.

Thief

By choosing a Specialization called Thief, your hero will gain two passive abilities and will be able to use his supernatural dexterity to perform additional actions during a single turn.

  1. Fast Hands: a passive ability that allows you to perform 2 additional actions (bonus action) in one round;
  2. Second-Story Work: a passive ability that keeps the protagonist from receiving injuries from a fall.

Using Fast Hands means that during one turn, you'll be able to Sprint to come closer to a target found on an elevated platform (balcony, ledge) and use Jump to land behind his back and perform an attack.

Arcane Trickster

By choosing a Specialization called Arcane Trickster, you will gain magical knowledge, which will allow you to learn many useful offensive spells, illusions and clever tricks to be used during combat.

Since the vast majority of spells available to a Rogue with an Arcane Trickster specialization are from Wizards' lot, you'll have to invest a few points into intelligence to be able to use them.

Effect: the hero summons a beam of energy that causes 1d12 Lightning damage and connects to the target with an electric arc.
