Drider Karniss is one of the bosses in Act 2 of BG3. He has strong attacks, several companions to defend him, and a useful spell that will make the fight more difficult. Keep reading if you want to know how to get rid of the Sanctuary status and defeat Karniss.
How to defeat the drider boss named Karniss?
While completing the Follow the Convoy quest in Act 2 of BG3, you will fight a powerful boss, Karniss, to obtain the Moonlantern. You will receive several allies from Jaheira to aid in this battle.
Alternatively, you can choose differently and ally with the cultists - then Karniss will guide you through the Shadow Cursed Lands, and you will not have to fight him.
When you stand in the designated place, let your allies know when to attack the passing convoy to gain an advantage over the opponents. Karniss is a 6 level drider and travels in the company of 5 companions. His minions shouldn't pose a significant problem. Your allies can deal with them, while your team can focus on the main opponent.
How to remove Sanctuary status?
Karniss will cast a Sanctuary spell on himself, which will prevent you from attacking him. Only area-of-effect attacks work on a character with Sanctuary status. There are also several simple ways to get rid of this status.
When Karniss casts Sanctuary on himself, remove this status with spells such as:
- True Sight
- Detect Invisibility
- Bolts of Doom
If you don't have any Sanctuary nullifying spells, wait until Karniss attacks you, which will cause the status to disappear. Remember that the enemy will cast the protective spell on himself again at the next opportunity. If you don't have any spells to remove this status, use area-of-effect spells like Clouds of Daggers or Fireball.
On the corpse of the defeated driver, you will find the Moonlanter and the Cruel Sting weapon.
