Total War Warhammer 3: Tzeentch - unique mechanics Total War Warhammer 3 guide, walkthrough

This guide page will tell you all about the unique mechanics of the Tzeentch faction in Total War Warhammer 3.

Last update: 04 April 2022

The following page of the guide will introduce you to the unique mechanics of the Tzeentch faction in Total War Warhammer 3.

Grimoires

The unique resource of the Tzeentch are Grimoires. They allow you to pay for some technologies and race skills.

You can see their current status at the top of the screen in the middle - Total War Warhammer 3: Tzeentch - unique mechanics - Tzeentch - Total War Warhammer 3 Guide

You can see their current status at the top of the screen in the middle. You will get Grimoires as rewards for winning battles and as a result of various random events. Additionally, your legendary lord has a skill that passively gives you some Grimoires every turn (as long as you buy said skill). You can also obtain them from buildings (e.g. those related to resources or cult headquarters). The first of your Unholy Manifestation powers (more about them on a separate page of the guide: Great Game) can also grant you this resource.

Changing of the Ways

One of the ways to spend Grimoires is investing in Changing of the Ways.

To open the menu of this unique mechanic, press the book button in the circle menu in the lower right corner - Total War Warhammer 3: Tzeentch - unique mechanics - Tzeentch - Total War Warhammer 3 Guide

To open the menu of this unique mechanic, press the book button in the circle menu in the lower right corner.

You will then see 10 skills. They allow you to influence other nations without declaring war on them and entering into diplomatic relations with them. Unfortunately, you need to spend Grimoires to do so. Depending on various factors (relations with a given faction and Tzeench's corruption in its territory), the cost will vary.

These powers are also blocked by technologies. Therefore, try to quickly unlock those that you find the most suitable for your playstyle.

Changing of the Ways will give you a significant advantage. For instance, you can take over a settlement without fight, force it to open the gates, and even block the lords and heroes from moving, or start a war between factions (or do some other interesting things).

You can upgrade the Changing of the Ways thanks to the skills of your legendary lord - this will reduce their cost and shorten the cooldown.

Winds of Magic Manipulation

Another unique Tzeentch mechanic is the Winds of Magic Manipulation. With this power, you can manipulate the Winds of Magic in the provinces where you have settlements.

To open the Winds of Magic Manipulation menu, press "sun" in the lower right corner (on the circular menu) - Total War Warhammer 3: Tzeentch - unique mechanics - Tzeentch - Total War Warhammer 3 Guide

To open the Winds of Magic Manipulation menu, press "sun" in the lower right corner (on the circular menu). Then you will see the above overlay.

The glowing "circles" represent how strong the Winds of Magic are in the province. Use the arrows in the center to reduce their strength. You can transfer the resources obtained in this way to another province.

Stronger Winds of Magic allow the army to recharge its mana faster. Aside from the obvious advantage - more spells during battle - it also has a positive effect on your army.

Teleportation

Tzeentch armies have a unique movement Stance - Teleportation.

You can select the movement stance below the lord's portrait - Total War Warhammer 3: Tzeentch - unique mechanics - Tzeentch - Total War Warhammer 3 Guide

You can select the movement stance below the lord's portrait. You can find teleportation there. If you switch to this stance before making a move, you will be able to teleport directly to a location within the reach of your movement. This allows you to pass normally impassable obstacles (such as rocks) that you would otherwise have to go around.

However, you cannot use this stance in some provinces (for example those bordering the Great Bastion - the wall that separates Catay from you).

It also costs mana, but this can be reduced with appropriate technologies.
