Dead Island 2 offers a variety of gameplay modes - solo or with other players. Our guide explains whether co-op is available and whether it is mandatory, i.e. whether you can also complete all the game's content playing solo.

Dead Island 2 allows you to complete the entire campaign in a co-op mode. This option is available for up to 3 players, which is less than the previous installment from 2011, which offered 4-player co-op. A possible explanation of this may be that Dead Island 2 is intended to offer a more intense experience.

Co-op is not mandatory and you can finish the entire campaign alone in singleplayer. In single-player mode, the level of challenge is automatically adjusted so that it is neither too easy nor too difficult. There's also no risk of missing quests or other important activities – the missions in the game are available regardless of the number of players.
