Both alchemy and cooking are similar, as you can perform them only in your house. Furthermore, you need to have appropriate alchemy equipment. One of the available housing options (world map) is to transform your workshop into a laboratory. Special alchemy equipment can be purchased in appropriate stores in all the larger cities (potion icon). To craft new items you need to put the required ingredients on your alchemy table. All the available recipes are located in the alchemy section. Every created potion will give you alchemy experience points and knowledge. Every new object is an opportunity to receive collector's items, required to exchange for rare ingredients or contribution points.

Cooking is basically the same thing: You need to add a stove and all the required accessories. All the available recipes will be visible in the cooking section, so you will know what goes with what. Meals can have a number of positive effects, so you can use them yourself, or sell them. The price of a given item will be visible right above it. There are no limits when it comes to crafting and selling. Although it is another way of making some money, it is not as effective as fishing (you can sell fish right away at a trader manager, and you will receive money for sold meals from other players).
