Tryingto save Stefan's mother is one of the key goals while watching Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. Succeeding in it unlocks the best ending of the movie. This page of our guide informs how to save Mom. It's a complicated process so make sure to follow all of the steps of the walkthrough listed below.
During your first playthrough you can learn that Stefan's Mom has died in a train accident. This is shown during a dream/flashback sequence with young Stefan. The scene is displayed after Stefan visits Dr. Haynes in her office and agrees to talk about his mother.
Stefan and his Dad will be watching tv. You'll find out that Stefan's Mom boarded the unlucky train after Stefan failed to find his toy under the bed and didn't want to come with her (she boarded the train alone).
The objective is to change the past by "transporting" the toy to Stefan's bed so that he finds it and that he and his Mom board a different train and have a safe trip.
