What Actually is the Discovery Tour?
Discovery Tour for Assasins Creed: Origins is a special expansion, through which Ubisoft will allow us to travel the Ancient Egypt.
According to the developers, the mechanics will gravitate towards a purely educational gameplay - that means, this mod will be well-suited and safe for younger players, who will be able to learn about the long-gone world of the antique, roamed by the protagonist of Assasins Creed: Orgins.
The Discovery Tour totally gives up combat and quests. That doesn't make it any lesser of a game, nor does it mean the developers have ran out of ideas - Discovery Tour is not even remotely close to an artificial way of keeping the game alive; it's an exciting and novel occurrence in the industry.
Assasins Creed: Origins - Discovery Tour has partially been created by professional historians, scientists and Egyptologists - this definitely warrants the belief that it will offer a faithful rendition of the ancient world.
When Will it be Released?
The expansion should be launched February 20th, 2018 on all the original Assasins Creed: Origins' platforms simultaneously - it will also be completely free. Interestingly enough, the Discovery Tour will be a stand-alone expansion - this means that the players, who do not own Assasins Creed: Origins, but would love to try out the virtual tour of Egypt can purchase the expansion alone, for about $20, which might just be quite a bargain.
