How to get materials for crafting? Assassin's Creed Origins Guide and Walkthrough

Below, you can find a few methods for gathering materials in Assassin's Creed: Origins. Try to use these tips right from the beginning of the game because they will allow you to make your hero more powerful.

Materials in Assassin's Creed Origins

In AC: Origins, materials aren't used for upgrading weapons because that is "only" done by spending gold. Instead, you use materials for crafting upgrades for other elements of Bayek's equipment, those that are in the bottom of the inventory screen. These equipment parts are, e.g. a quiver which allows you to carry more arrows, a glove that increases ranged damage (the picture) or a breastplate which gives you more health points.

Move a cursor on each of the items in your inventory and learn what materials you need to upgrade a given item. Warning - Some materials are used in upgrading a few items from different categories. When that happens, you must decide which equipment piece is more important to you.

Exploration of the game's world

The easiest way to find materials is to search all interactive containers. Sometimes, instead of gold or trinkets you may pick up a material (an example is presented in the picture). Sadly, this way doesn't guarantee that you can get a lot of materials in a short amount of time. You also don't have control over which materials you get. You can only increase your chance for finding them by:

1. Examining loot chests in locations marked by a question mark (e.g. in forts).
2. Exploring Tombs.
3. Sending Senu to scout an area.

Wild animals

Most of materials come from dead animals. Senu is also helpful here because during a flight you can notice materials icons (an example is presented in the picture). Thanks to that you can reach those animals that will allow you to get materials that you need:

1. Soft Leather can be acquired by killing, e.g. a gazelle.
2. Hard Leather can be acquired by killing, e.g. crocodiles and hippos.
3. Fur can be acquired by killing, e.g. lions and jaguars.

Military convoys

The last method is to attack enemy military convoys that transport goods. Use Senu to locate them. After that you can learn about its materials and their quantity - an example is presented in the picture above (15 units of Cedarwood).

Try to focus only on eliminating a person that carries materials. Usually, that person is a carter (the picture above) or a guard that rides in the front of a convoy. The easiest way to attack a convoy is to chase it on a mount. Attack a few times with your melee weapon or use a bow.

You don't have to kill the rest of the enemies that accompanied the attacked convoy. You can do that only when they can hinder you in getting loot. Search a corpse of a person that carried materials to obtain them (example in the picture). You DON'T have to search or steal a cart, a horse etc.

By attacking convoys you get mainly Cedarwood and Bronze.

Merchants

In default, merchants don't offer any materials for sale. You can change that by spending 2 ability points on Buy Materials ability - the picture above. From now on you can visit them and spend Drachma on materials.
