From the very beginning of the game, the map of the currently traversed lands will be marked with different color dots. This is the equivalent of the question marks from the previous parts of the series - the shining dots inform about interesting locations and treasures to visit/acquire.

Luckily, you don't have to guess what a particular dot means. When you approach a dot, it will be replaced by an icon of a location a collectible.

The importance of dot colors

The dots appear in three colors - gold, blue and white. The color indicates what kind of locations or secrets you are dealing with. This also coincides with the information from the lower right corner of the map screen, which informs you about your progress in studying a given region (example in the picture above).

A gold dot may mean that it can be one of the following:

  1. Ingot
  2. New weapon or armor (Gear)
  3. Book of knowledge (new ability)
  4. Cargo with crafting materials
  5. Small loot box - these are smaller golden dots on the world map, which are not included to explore a region at 100%.

Blue dots may mean that you are dealing with one of the following:

  1. Event in the game world (small quest / meeting)
  2. Cairn
  3. Offering Altar
  4. Flyting
  5. Treasure of Britain
  6. Legendary Animal lair
  7. Lost Drengr
  8. Daughter of Lerion
  9. Animus Anomaly
  10. Standing Stones
  11. Fly Agaric

White dots may mean that you're headed towards:

  1. Treasure Hoard Map
  2. Flying Paper
  3. Rigsogur Fragment
  4. Roman Artifact
  5. Opal
  6. Cursed Symbol
