Graphics Options in Bard's Tale IV

Bard's Tale IV has a quite substantial array of graphics settings that will allow you to adjust the game to your needs. Here you will find a description of all the options along with their impact on the performance and quality of the game.

1 - System Requirements of The Bards Tale 4 - Appendix - The Bards Tale 4 Game Guide
  1. Screen Resolution - the option responsible for setting the resolution in the game. By default, it is set to your screen's resolution. Reducing it will reduce the quality of the graphics. Increasing it, on the other hand, can cause performance drops in the game
  2. Fullscreen - this option allows you to turn on the game in fullscreen mode or in a borderless window. The difference is small, although the fullscreen mode will result in better texture quality
  3. Gamma Correction - a setting that defines the brightness of the image. No influence on the number of frames per second
  4. V-Sync - allows you to synchronize the number of frames per second with the maximum amount that can be displayed by your monitor
  5. Overall Quality - simultaneously modifies all quality options to the same level. The game has an option to automatically detect the overall quality
  6. Texture Quality - affects the detail of all the textures in the game. The higher the setting the greater the quality, at the same time, it may also cause performance drops
  7. Effects - determines the quality of the visual effects of the environment. The higher the setting the greater the quality and the likelihood of performance issues
  8. Foliage - reflects the quality of the foliage. Increasing the setting will result in better quality of the plants that make up the environment. Lowering the setting will increase the number of frames per second
  9. Shadow Resolution - every object in the game has its own shadow. This setting affects the quality of said shadows. This option does not affect the stability of the game all that much
  10. View Distance - determines the maximum distance from which you will be able to see a given object. This option has a huge impact on the performance of the game. Setting it too high can drastically reduce the number of frames per second
  11. Post Processing - contains options which define the quality and appearance of such details as, e.g. reflections in the water. Disabling these options will improve the performance of the game
  12. Anti-aliasing - smoothens the edges of objects in the game. Turning this option off will deteriorate the quality of the objects, but will improve the performance of the game.
