The main character of Sniper Elite 5 can use bolt cutters and a crowbar to open passages and containers, perform acts of sabotage and other important activities. This page of the guide explains how to get both gadgets and when you can use bolt cutters and a crowbar.
Obtaining bolt cutters and crowbar
You don't take bolt cutters and crowbar on a mission. Instead, you have to find them while exploring the maps. They can be, for example, near workbenches or in various locations guarded by enemies. In order to find them, you can activate focus (a mode similar to scanning the area).
Each map has several bolt cutters and crowbars, so you don't have to search for one specific item. The gadgets are indestructible and one copy of each of them will last until the end of the mission (in the next stage you have to look for them again).
Main use for bolt cutters
Bolt cutters can be used to cut padlocks to, for example:
- Opening a door locked with a padlock - example in picture 1.
- Opening a container locked with a padlock - example in picture 2.
In both cases, bolt cutters are a faster alternative for using a slower lockpick (the lockpick is always in Karl's inventory). The disadvantage of this method is that cutting a padlock creates noise so you need to make sure that there are no enemies in the area.
Main use for crowbar
The crowbar is useful in situations where you need to lift something. You can use it, e.g. to open sealed containers (example in picture 1) or to remove boards blocking the passage (example in picture 2).
As in the case of bolt cutters, you have to take into account that the crowbar creates noise that can alert nearby enemies. Always make sure no one is in the immediate vicinity.
