Using certain weapons will allow you to complete challenges and get awards, which unlock gold buckles and possibility to earn valuable experience points. Information about the awards progress can be found in the Progress - Awards section of the Pause menu.
Many of the single awards have subsequent levels you need to complete. For example, a sharpshooter has a few levels of completion for killing: 10, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 enemies. Only completing the last one will allow you to gain a buckle. Despite that, initial award levels will allow you to gain valuable experience.
Below you will find a list of all awards in the game that contains information about the completion requirements for each award.
Sharpshooter
- Kill enemies with a pistol - 1000 killed.
- Kill enemies with a revolver - 1000 killed.
- Kill enemies with a repeater - 1000 killed.
- Kill enemies with a rifle - 1000 killed.
- Kill enemies with a sniper rifle - 1000 killed.
- Kill enemies with a shotgun - 1000 killed.
- Kill enemies with melee weapons - 1000 killed.
- Kill enemies throwing weapon - 1000 killed.

- Acquire 19 guns - 19 guns acquired.
Combat
- Kill enemies - 1000 killed.
- Kill enemies by firing from the hip - 1000 killed.
- Run down enemies with a coach - 100 run down.
- Trample enemies to death with a horse - 100 trampled.
- Kill enemies with a fire - 100 killed by fire.
- Counter while brawling - 1000 counters.
- Kill enemies after you have died - 100 killed (for example - throw a dynamite before death).
- Kill enemies with mounted weaponry - 1000 killed.
- Kill enemies while drunk - 100 killed.
- Kill enemies who incapacitated/killed a Posse Member - 100 killed.

Hunting
- Kill animals - 1000 killed.

Crimes
- Lasso enemies from horseback and hogtie them - 100 lassoed and hogtied.
- Drag an enemy with a lasso from horseback - 100 miles dragged.
- Survive a wanted level - 120 minutes survived.
- Lose a wanted level - 100 times lost.
Travel
- Travel by train - 1000 miles.
- Travel on foot - 1000 miles.
- Travel by canoe - 1000 miles.
- Travel by horse - 1000 miles.
- Travel a total of 1898 miles (around 3055 kilometers).
- Jump from a horse onto a moving train - 100 jumps.
- Ride on horseback from Valentine to Strawberry in 3:30.
