Look out for the coins

Once you collect a lot of coins, go to a checkpoint. For example, if you open a chest full of coins and die a moment later, you will lose that money. You can't recover these coins when you respawn.

Take advantage of checkpoints

Checkpoints in Kao the Kangaroo look like glowing bells. When you pass such a checkpoint, you can not only save the game, but also regenerate the hero's life. You simply need to punch the bell a few times for one heart and some coins to drop out of it. Each checkpoint can only give you one heart.

Watch out for your health in combat

Dying in combat is rather unusual in Kao the Kangaroo. The opponents aren't strong, you can defeat them with a few punches. However, you should be careful, because if you don't have much health, even a fight can kill you. Enemies can take your entire heart without you even noticing, especially if they jump out at you in a group.

Avoid opponents that throw things at you

If you encounter an enemy that throws things, just run away. Such an enemy can take your life when you're simply exploring the map. Watch out for their movements, as they are not signaled in any way, e.g. by a shadow of a falling object.

Gather collectibles

Many of the collectibles on the map have a direct impact on the hero. The heart fragments are the most important. After collecting 4 of these, you will get a new heart that will increase your total number of lives.

Use the shops

You will find a shop on every island. Here you can buy clothes for Kao, lives and heart fragments. The latter are the most important, and you should invest in the hearts at the beginning. You can buy only 2 heart quarters in each shop.

Watch out for the moving platforms

Many of the platforms in Kao the Kangaroo are either moving or descending. Focus on it in advance and don't panic, because they regenerate quickly. Instead of making abrupt dodges or escaping, sometimes you just have to jump at the right moment to give the platform time to, e.g. emerge from water.
