Gears 5 is based on the same mechanics as the previous parts of the series. So you'll have to deal with a dynamic third-person shooter again. The following chapter contains an overview of the whole gameplay.

Gameplay is very dynamic. During the game you will fight in closed arenas. Covers and shields play an important role in the game. Whole maps are filled with all sorts of objects you can hide behind. Use them to avoid enemy attacks.

Due to the dynamics of the game, you will have to constantly change your position. Otherwise, your opponents will quickly cause you a lot of damage.

To eliminate a dozen of enemies, you get a wide range of weapons - from close combat ones up to big and massive machine guns. Each of them has its own unique properties, which makes them effective in different conditions. Of course, a specific type of ammunition is required for each of them.
