This page of the Demon's Souls Remake explains how to defeat the Maiden Astrea boss.
Maiden Astrea in no way resembles a demon - she is a priestess. You're not really fighting her, but her servant, Garl Vinland.
General advice
- The main opponent will be Garl Vinland, the servant of the priestess. He's standing in a place that you can't get through unless you beat him.
- Do not jump into the swamp, as you will get infected with the plague. In addition, you will be surrounded by smaller opponents who will emerge from the swamp.
- Astrea can be killed or allowed to speak, then she will commit suicide. Regardless of your choice, the ending will be the same. You will receive the Ring of Sincere Prayer and the boss's soul.
Boss fight walkthrough
After entering the arena, head towards Garl. He will be standing in a narrow passage, which you can't go through until you defeat him. He'll be holding a shield that he'll use to block most hits.
The easiest way to defeat Garl is to approach him, let him attack and then once he finishes the attack, keep attacking him in return until he runs out of stamina. When that happens, get away from him and let him attack again. Repeat this pattern and you'll have no problem defeating the boss.
Remember to pick up the set that Garl will drop when he dies. Then head down towards Astrea.
While approaching her, be wary of the swamp and the plague effect, which can be imposed on you. Consider a quick conversation with her. You may also kill her, pick up items and then proceed to get rid of the plague effect, because otherwise you will receive constant damage.
