The Old Hero relies heavily on hearing because he has no eyes. To defeat him, you must be quiet and move slowly, instead of charging at him with all your might.
General advice
- The Old Hero is blind and relies mainly on his hearing! It's a good idea to wear the thief ring before the fight to reduce your detectability. What's more, heavy armor can also make the fight more difficult, as it makes louder sounds.
- If the boss can't hear you, he'll attack random areas. Keep this in mind to avoid getting hit by accident.
- Move slowly and don't sprint unless you have to. The boss will know where you are and start attacking you.
- The boss is very slow. Each incoming attack is clearly indicated. Therefore, it's worth approaching him from behind every time. If you're behind him for too long, though, he'll start waving his arms.
- When the boss gets down on one knee, run! He will then perform a powerful AoE attack, which will hurt you a lot. He usually does this attack when he loses half of his HP.
How to defeat the boss in close combat?
The fight is very easy when you're wearing the thief ring, because it makes it harder for enemies to detect you. It's perfect for a hearing-based enemy.
Approaching him from behind is always a good idea - he often attacks the places which he's faced towards. Attack him a few times, and when he starts screaming, stop attacking and go behind him again. Don't sprint too often, because then even with the ring on, the boss will be able to figure out where you are.
If you're not wearing the ring, the only thing that changes is that you will have to approach the boss much more slowly and carefully. He is then able to detect and attack you much faster. He usually attacks twice, and after taking damage begins to scream and turn in the direction that the attack came from.
How to defeat the boss at a long range?
Long-distance combat is much safer, especially with the equipped thief ring, because after receiving damage from a considerable distance, the boss will start attacking everything around him. Shoot a few arrows or cast some spells that you currently possess. When you see the boss approaching you, go to the other side of the arena and repeat.
The arena is quite long, so the fight should not cause any problems if you decide to fight him at a distance. When it comes to magic, the boss is more prone to fire damage than magic damage, use fire magic attacks if you can.
