Somewhat Damaged is the main quest from the finale of Reed's thread in Phantom Liberty. Last update: 04 October 2023

As part of going through Reed's storyline in the Phantom of Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 , you will tackle a larger quest named Somewhat Damaged. The walkthrough on this page of the guide explains how to get into the Cynosure outpost, where the data terminals are and how to sabotage them, how to avoid being killed by the large robot and how to escape it, then how to get to the core, and what stance to take towards Songbird as well as what major variants this important choice has.

Find the MaxTac truck

1 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. This task begins immediately after the main quest Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos. It is a continuation of Reed's storyline and will focus on finding Songbird.
  2. Head to the building to which the footprints led from the convoy ambush site. Jump down to lower ledges until you reach the burning wreck of the truck. Take a look inside (seen on the image above), and V may comment that Songbird is not inside.

Follow Songbird's traces

2 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. Blackwall traces may help you in tracking Songbird. They lead to a locked gate and opening it by force requires as many as 20 Body points.
  2. Alternatively, you can lift and use the hatch with the word Exit, as shown on the picture. You will have to dive a few times now - you can put on the Tactical Diving Suit you have acquired earlier, or surface along the way to get some air.

Connecting to the terminal

3 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. You will reach a large shaft. Talk to Johnny and jump down, aiming for the water.
  2. You will reach the Cynosure facility. Reed will inform you to find a terminal - jump down at the spot shown in the picture. After locating the terminal, connect to it.
  3. You will listen to a conversation with Songbird and it does not include any important choices. Force open the door to get out of the room (3 points of Body are enough).

Explore the restricted area

4 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. Continue to follow the red traces. They lead to an elevator to a restricted area. During the slow descent you can optionally chat with Johnny.
  2. On the lower level you will reach a locked gate and you need to look for an alternative passage. Choose side corridors. Along the way, you can watch the first of several scenes from Songbird's past.
  3. Head toward Songbird's silhouette visible in the distance. The passage will close and your next steps will be focused on opening the gate leading to Sector 3.

Find the Alpha data terminal

5 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. You can optionally explore the terminal at the gate. You will learn that you need to locate a total of 4 different data terminals - Alpha, Bravo, Sierra and Victor. Shutting them all down will break the connection and open the gate. A map from the wall can help in exploring the base - we have shown it in the picture. The Alpha and Beta terminals are close together.
  2. Locate the entrance to the Server Room. You can open the passage by force (3 points of Body).
6 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. The Alpha terminal in the server room. Approach it, then select Access Terminal and then Disable Data Terminal.
  2. After the action proves unsuccessful, you must connect to the terminal and complete a hacking mini-game. Fortunately, it can be approached any number of times.

Find the Beta data terminal

7 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. Choose a narrow corridor that will lead you directly to the Beta terminal. Like before, try to connect to it first.
  2. Songbird will prevent you from completing the action. Scan the device from the picture to learn its security features (wait for the red progress bar to be full).
8 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. You will learn that you need to crawl under the terminal - walk up to it and look down. Once you are under the terminal, try disconnecting the cables.
  2. Your efforts will be interrupted by the appearance of a hostile robot. You must save V from death by throwing off the bars - you have a limited amount of time to do this. This will toggle a scene from getting out of the trap, but it will not solve your robot problem permanently.

Find the Sierra data terminal

9 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. From here on, you must completely avoid the robot - it may roam the facility hunting for V. Use the curtains and listen for the machine's footsteps. It is best to always wait until the robot returns to the ventilation shafts in the ceiling. This will enable you to explore the area safely, at least for some time.
  2. You cannot destroy or hack the robot. Do not take any offensive actions against it. If you are detected, the robot can close the door so you can't escape - opening it is theoretically possible (3 points of Body), but you may not have enough time to do it.
10 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. Walk through the new tunnel and you will return to the main part of the facility. You can watch another scene from Songbird's past.
  2. In the main corridor of the base, find the Engineering passage from the picture - it has Sierra stamps on the sides.
  3. Reach the terminal, which you must hack into by completing the hacking mini-game. Before you start hacking, make sure the robot is not in the area. It can attack and kill you while you are busy with the mini-game. Fortunately, you do not have to rush.

Find the Victor data terminal

11 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. Return to the main part of the corridor and locate the Security Room passage from the picture. It also has icons on the sides, this time for Victor. Hack the terminal once you find it.

Use the terminal to open the gate to Sector 3

12 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. After you disable all 4 data terminals, you can return to the locked gate, where you started solving the puzzle.
  2. To the left of the gate there is a terminal. Approach it and select the command to open the gate(image above).

Escape from the robot

13 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. Soon after entering the new room, the robot will appear behind your back and start chasing you. Start running away as soon as possible, otherwise the robot can easily catch up with V.
  2. Run down the corridor and quickly open the airlock on the left (image). Go inside and just as quickly use the second panel to close the airlock. This will temporarily interrupt the chase.

Use the terminal to access the core

14 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. Enter the new part of the facility and once again follow the red traces of Blackwall. Watch the scene with the President. The route leads so the Core Control room. Open the door and talk to Songbird in the room. You should be able to the large core from here.
  2. There is a terminal in the same room. Approche it and select the core disable button (image). Only 3 of the 6 systems will shut down. The next 3 must be turned off manually so it's time to play hide and seek with the big robot again. Remember to hide when seeing or hearing the machine approaching.

Find the terminal in the Neural Network

15 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. Go to the laboratories and watch the scene with Reed on the way. Locate the entrance to Neural Network Control in this part of the facility.
  2. Check the terminal, then scan it. You have to disconnect cables in the floor and an example of such a spot is shown in the picture. A total of 4 such spots have to be located.

Find the terminal at Datafort Central Command

16 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. Return to the main area and locate the entrance to Datafort Central Command. After a failed hacking attempt, scan the firewall.
  2. You have to destroy 6 servers on the walls - an example is shown on the picture. 4 of them are in room with the terminal and 2 more in the previous one. Use any firearm. Destroying the terminals will draw the robot's attention, so be ready to hide behind the curtains when the machine appears. Wait until it finishes searching the area and leaves.

Find the terminal at Thermic Control

17 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. Retreat to the main area and find the entrance to Thermic Control. When trying to hack the terminal, you will receive a refusal.
  2. Hide from the robot, for example, in the small area in the corner of the room. Locate the blinds with the help of the scanner, which you can use to get to the small outdoor balconies. Outside, you will find the fuse box marked in the picture - crack its security.

Return to Core Control and avoid the robot

18 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. After you sabotage the 3 terminals described above, you have to return where began the journey for them. You will also see a new scene featuring Songbird. When you reach the central room, the robot will appear and start searching the area. Hide behind larger curtains or in the area to the side. Observe the robot to avoid finding yourself in its field of vision.
  2. Do not try to open any of the exits. The robot will get you and kill you even if it's far from V when you try something. You must hide until the robot finishes its search and leaves the area. This can take about 2 minutes.
  3. After the robot returns to the shafts, force the door open and return to the Core Control entrance.

Complete the core shutdown procedure

19 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. You will find yourself once again in the control room, from which you can see the large core. Check the terminal again. A scene will begin, in which you will be stopped by the robot, but this time you do not have to worry about your life.
  2. You now have to watch some scenes that are memories of Songbird. They take place in her former apartment in Brookline. The answers you choose and attempts to convince Songbird' that these are just visions have no effect on further events.
  3. Turn on the turntable to watch more scenes, and after another series is finished, open the front door. At the end, you can optionally hug Songbird or shake her.

Enter the core and make an important choice concerning Songbird

After returning to the facility, the robot will be deactivated - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide

After returning to the facility, the robot will be deactivated. Go down the stairs and head to the core. Inside you will find Songbird. Tear out the cables. You will have to make an important decision about Songbird during this meeting. The two main options are:

  1. Kill Songbird at her request - at either the first or second opportunity, choose the first dialogue option.
  2. Keep Songbird alive - select one of the other dialogue options twice.
20 - Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Somewhat Damaged - walkthrough - Main quests - Cyberpunk 2077 Guide
  1. If you chose the option of killing Songbird, V will pull the cable from her head and end her life. When Reed arrives, Songbird will already be dead and he will take the corpse with him.
  2. If you have chosen the option of saving Songbird, then after Reed appears, he will take living Songbird with him to hand her over to NUSA.
  3. In both cases, another quest, Leave in Silence will begin immediately.
