The surrounding area Necropolis Guide

Last update: 29 July 2016

Regardless the fact, how the level is generated, sooner or later you will encounter certain elements that will be repeated. This chapter will cover specific objects and characters.

Elevators

The screenshot presents a crystal that is the integral part of every lift - The surrounding area - Gameplay mechanics - Necropolis Game Guide

The screenshot presents a crystal that is the integral part of every lift. If the crane is a part of the catacombs, the part of level that you are standing on, should move. It is also possible that you will need to use the crystal to summon the elevator. The crane can always be located in the zone which starts and finishes the level. By using a large, square platform, you can reach the lower level of the dungeons, or get back to the previous one.

Merchants

Apart from collecting pieces of equipment from fallen opponents, you will encounter three type of merchants. They can offer you a wide range of objects. Crystals are the currency that is used in the game.

The old man

You will come across him right after you begin your gameplay and in the zone ending each of the levels.

He can offer you the following objects - The surrounding area - Gameplay mechanics - Necropolis Game Guide

He can offer you the following objects:

  • One randomly generated type of weapon
  • potion
  • different types of food
  • scrolls of identification
  • dyes

Dyes do not affect the very gameplay and they only add additional set of colors that can be used by our hero. You shouldn't spend too much on dyes, as they can only be purchased via Points.

The bird in the chest

It's rather difficult to miss this merchant as it makes characteristic sounds and hides in a chest (that you ought to search). Its location is purely random and it is possible not to come across the merchant for a long time.

The merchant will have the following items - The surrounding area - Gameplay mechanics - Necropolis Game Guide

The merchant will have the following items:

  • potions (several types, a lot of them)
  • recipes for potions and items

You can purchase all the items with crystals and the prices are rather fair. It's best to purchase as many recipes as possible as they can be used several times, and it not likely that you will come across this merchant in the nearest future.

Triangle in the wall

To obtain a characteristic item that will allow you to find merchant without much effort, I used the following screenshot.

Once you come across this object, check whether steam is coming out of it - The surrounding area - Gameplay mechanics - Necropolis Game Guide

Once you come across this object, check whether steam is coming out of it. If it does, that means that you found the rarest of all the merchants. When you come closer to the bars, terrifying hands will appear and interaction will be possible.

The merchant will have the following items:

  • potions (one type, not many)
  • weapons (a couple of types)
  • shield
  • armor

This is the only merchant that can offer you armor for crystals. The prices are high, especially when it comes to high quality sets, so choose wisely.

Chests

You will come across two types of chests. Each one has random loot inside.

Silver chest

You will find them anywhere across the dungeons - The surrounding area - Gameplay mechanics - Necropolis Game Guide

You will find them anywhere across the dungeons. They can contain valuable items, food, potions or jewels. You don't need any points to open sliver chests. You may also find the merchant that we mentioned in the previous chapter.

Gold chest

You can come across such chests at each level of the catacombs, at the end of the zone that starts the new level - The surrounding area - Gameplay mechanics - Necropolis Game Guide

You can come across such chests at each level of the catacombs, at the end of the zone that starts the new level. You will need to spend 1 point to open it. Chest usually contain armor, or new weapons.

Zones ending the level

One of few places in which you are totally safe. You enter the zones via doors that require 200 crystals to be opened. Once you reach the zone, you will find two important objects. .

Scriptorium

Here you will get access to codexes - The surrounding area - Gameplay mechanics - Necropolis Game Guide

Here you will get access to codexes. You can unlock them to turn them into items. Scriptoriums are the only type of places that allow this, so remember to use the opportunity to gain bonuses.

Gods' Blessing

In the main part of the zone, right after you enter it, you will notice a large statue with a Fountain underneath.

For the right amount of crystals, you can obtain permanent HP bonuses - The surrounding area - Gameplay mechanics - Necropolis Game Guide

For the right amount of crystals, you can obtain permanent HP bonuses. These bonuses are assigned to given characters, so when he/she dies, the process needs to start from the very beginning.

Bonuses and their requirements:

  • Level 1 - 500 crystals
  • Level 2 - 1500 crystals
  • Level 3 - 2500 crystals

Drawings on the wall

During the gameplay, you will often come across such places - The surrounding area - Gameplay mechanics - Necropolis Game Guide

During the gameplay, you will often come across such places. Such drawing will reveal the plot in a chaotic way, or contain secret passages. To activate the passage, you need to come closer to the wall when the text appears, and thus unlocks the passage. Stand back and look around, as some of them may contain traps. Most of the time, treasures hidden in the chambers compensate for having to check all the drawings.

Hidden treasure

When moving through further levels, you should pay attention to elements that surround you. Containers scattered around the rooms can contain extra loot.

Vases

Its the most common type of containers - The surrounding area - Gameplay mechanics - Necropolis Game Guide

It's the most common type of containers. You will find most of them in the zone that ends the level. They usually contain jewels but one can find precious items from time to time.
