Mr Prepper: Health, energy, preparedness Mr Prepper guide, walkthrough

Last update: 20 April 2021

This page of the Mr. Prepper guide explains the functioning of hunger/health, energy and preparedness indicators. You will learn how to regenerate them, what can happen if they decrease and what bonuses are associated with them.

In Mr - Mr. Prepper: Health, energy, preparedness - Basics - Mr Prepper Guide

In Mr. Prepper, our hero has three statuses visible at the top of the screen: energy, health/hunger and the preparedness indicator in the middle.

Energy

Energy is the least important parameter in the game. If you have exhausted all your energy, you can still work and perform all the activities you have done so far. Physical exhaustion will lead to a rapid decline of Preparedness, which in turn can lead to fainting.

You can regenerate your energy in three ways: by eating dried guarana fruits (you will dry them in the dryer, which you will unlock on Level 2 of the workbench), or by drinking a guarana drink (you will prepare it on a stove using dried guarana fruits) - Mr. Prepper: Health, energy, preparedness - Basics - Mr Prepper Guide

You can regenerate your energy in three ways: by eating dried guarana fruits (you will dry them in the dryer, which you will unlock on Level 2 of the workbench), or by drinking a guarana drink (you will prepare it on a stove using dried guarana fruits). The third free way is to just take a nap on the bed / couch or sleep at night.

Guarana fruits can be harvested in the forest on Level 3 or grown in a pot (access on Level 2 of the Workshop).

Hunger / health

Hunger and health in Mr. Prepper are basically the same. The only way to restore your health bar is by eating. The health level decreases in the course of time, especially at night.

Maintaining 50% of the health and energy bars allows for crafting items 50% faster.

You can eat raw foods, meals prepared on the stove and canned food that you can find in the game world. At the beginning, the easiest source of food will be berries and products grown in the garden. You can't die of starvation. A low hunger level decreases Preparedness significantly. This, in turn, can lead to fainting. Eating old food or sometimes raw meat can get you poisoned, which accelerates the decrease of Preparedness.

Food loses its edibility over time, including those that you prepare in cans, jars or the ones you dry (but much later). If you want to delay food spoiling, try the following tips:

  1. Keep food in the fridge;
  2. food (such as berries) can be "refreshed" by adding some fresh fruit (or any other food) to a pile of the older ones;
  3. further into the game, once you reach the highest level of the workshop, you will get a freezer which fully prevents food from spoiling (unless the power goes out and the device does not work);
  4. try to keep the products unprocessed - when their storage life runs out, they will recover it after being processed into a new dish.

Tip: when selecting a meal from your inventory, click on it with the RMB and select Equip to assign it to a quick access key (1-4) - this will help you quickly restore health, especially during a fight (available only once you acquire a backpack).

Preparedness

A semi-circular red bar, located at the top of the screen in the middle, stands for Preparedness. It is an indicator of how prepared our hero feels should a rainy day come. At the same time, it is the most important of the three parameters

By default, the bar level keeps declining - Mr. Prepper: Health, energy, preparedness - Basics - Mr Prepper Guide

By default, the bar level keeps declining. It goes up when you craft, explore and sleep. Different statuses will also affect how quickly your Preparedness decreases. This can be excessive hunger, food poisoning from non-fresh food, or negative inspection control. Hover over the status to see its effects. The level of Preparedness also increases when you read a newspaper that appears every several days on your doorstep. Use it for a rainy day.

If your Preparedness drops to zero, you will faint as in the case of energy bar - Mr. Prepper: Health, energy, preparedness - Basics - Mr Prepper Guide

If your Preparedness drops to zero, you will faint as in the case of energy bar. When you wake up, you'll go back to the start of the location where you fainted. It will also take a random amount of time, ranging from a few hours to even a few days.
