Finding the Brewing Machine

Rufus in Rexford Hotel

You will meet Rufus in Rexford hotel. He will give you the task to find a special robot. The marked location - The Shemrock Taphouse - is a small settlement of addicts. You can sneak up to the basement undetected by walking around through the corridors that will lead you straight to the basement.

Buddy in the basement of the Shemrock Taphouse

A group of mole rats will attack you in the basement. You will also find Buddy the robot there. You must activate it using the terminal (level II). Now you can send it to the hotel or leave for yourself, sending it to any settlement. Every few days it can create a beer for you. If you will find holographic tapes with other brewing receipts, the robot can take then and create other drinks as well. It is also an additional firepower for the settlement - it has a laser cannon and flame thrower. However, the quest will not end until you deliver the robot (you can send it to the hotel later).

Optional: Sell the Buddy to Rufus

Your main objective is to guide the robot to Rexford hotel

You can also take the robot back to the questgiver. This is why the quest marker points at the robot. However, you don't need to walk with it to Goodneighbor - simply teleport there using the quick travel and wait for the robot to reach its destination. You will receive money from Rufus and the robot will continue to serve its purpose in that place (creating drinks).

Before you go further, you can take one beer recipe, it is lying under the bar (holo tape), next to the main entrance to the building.
