In the Beyond Hill and DaleAc€¦ quest Geralt is visiting a fairy realm where he looks for Syanna. Finding her is required for the medium or good ending. Geralt can also trigger a sex scene with Syanna.

The quest will unlock if during the main quest The Night of the Long Fangs you selected option B - you decided to meet with Damien and ask him about where Syanna is held. You can also unlock it if after helping Orianna in the main quest Blood Simple you listen to Regis advice to look for Syanna (instead of going to the lair of the Unseen Elder).

This quest will appear in your journal after you move to the child room in the palace. It will really start after Geralt finds the magic book and he uses it to move to a fairy realm in which Syanna is located. The journey to that realm is required for unlocking the medium or good ending.

As the objective suggests, you should stick to the brick road. However, check the minimap from time to time so that you are sure that you go in right direction. You can be sure that you are on the right pack if you encounter the bridge shown on the above picture. Be careful, not far further Geralt will encounter an archespore - you can destroy the plant or quickly leave the place. Soon a cutscene during which you will find Syanna will be triggered. Witch's main attack is spilling acid - you must avoid it by jumping to the sides or moving back from the endangered area. Otherwise Geralt will receive some serious damage. Notice that before using the acid attack the witch lowers its flight and deactivates the barrier. Use it to take it to the ground - you can use the crossbow or Aard sign for that.

After the witch lands on the ground, focus only on attacking the Broom. Destroying it will make it impossible for the witch to fly above the battle arena. From now you can attack the witch in traditional way - start with using Igni, then perform a few hits with the sword and finally jump away before the witch will be able to answer Geralt's attacks. Repeat this until you kill the opponent.

After winning the battle with the witch you can complete your first long conversation with Syanna. Then you will go together search for Joss. On the way Geralt and Syanna will be attacked by Pixies for the first time. They should die very quickly, but if later you encounter a very large group of them, you can help yourself with magic oil. Soon Syanna will offer a horse ride - you can mount the unicorn which will replace Roach while you're in the fairy realm. Kill the wolves attacking Joss after you find him and then speak with him. The boy will tell you where to look for beams needed for leaving the fairy realm.

Plan of exploration of the fairy land

From the moment you see with Joss you can now go to the points of interest and characters in the fairy land in any order you want. Most of them will get you closer to leaving the place (and to unlocking the best game ending), but some attractions are fully optional. Below you will find a list of all of them:

  • You can visit the Grand Mamma's House and, after Syanna plays the role of Red Riding Hood, defeat Big Bad Wolf in combat. Geralt will obtain the Red Bean.
  • You can go to three pigs, destroy their house and then fight them. After the battle you should explore their destroyed house. Geralt will obtain the Blue Bean.
  • You can speak to Longlocks in the tower. After climbing to the top of the tower you will have to kill her. Geralt will obtain the Yellow Bean.
  • You can meet with the Little Flint Girl in the village. This is a very important step for the ending of the game. If you ignore meeting the girl, then after leaving the fairy land the medium ending will be played. If you meet the girl and you buy or win the ribbon from her, then Syanna will not die later in the game killed by Dettlaff. This will allow you to obtain good or bad ending.
  • You can visit three bears. Geralt won't find the bean there. When you try to take the food from the table, the bears will wake up and you will have to fight them.

Take the Little Red Riding Hood's hood. Then use the narrow tunnels to leave the cave (in some places you will have to dive again) and meet with Syanna. She will wear the Red Riding Hood clothes. Don't try looking for the entrance to the house of three pigs once you reach the destination. Instead of that, use Aard to destroy it. This will trigger a battle with the Pig. Try attacking them one after another and jumping to the sides whenever one of them starts a charge. You can use beast oil and help yourself with Igni sign if you need to. Once the pigs are eliminated, examine their destroyed house and take the Blue Bean.

Attention! Before entering the tower, in the place show on the picture, you will find a magic firefly that will direct you to the body of the knight. Right next to the body, you'll find a whole set of Toussaint armor and a steel sword - Vitis.

After reaching the tower, begin climbing to its top. Start from jumping onto the outer stairs with the dead knight on them. Then use a ladder and again - stairs. After getting into a round room at the top, the duel with Longlocks.

Longlocks is considered by the game as boss and she has her own health bar shown on the screen. However, defeating her shouldn't be very troublesome. Before the combat starts, use wraith oil and set Yrden as active Witcher Sign.

Once the fight starts, use Yrden sign to set the magic circle. Attack the Longlocks whenever she appears inside the circle. In the meantime dodge and block her attacks. After some time skeletons will join the fight. Use area attacks to quickly get rid of a group of skeletons and use the fact that Longlocks won't attack when they are around (she will resume her attacks after the summoned skeletons are killed).

The battle will end once you take all health of the Longlocks. Now you can examine her bed - the Yellow Bean is lying under the pillow shown on the picture.

Since you have all three beams, you must decide what to do now. You can:

  • Immediately plant the beams. This equals resigning on meeting the flint girl and this will automatically unlock the medium ending after leaving the fairy realm. If you select this option, then jump to Leaving the fairy land section.
  • Focus on additional quest objectives, including the meeting with the flint girl. During that meeting you can obtain the ribbon which will later save Syanna's life. It is a much better option which will allow you to see the good ending of the game. If you selected this option, then jump to the Meeting the flint girl section.

This meeting is an optional objective of the quest, but you shouldn't skip it if you want to get the good ending for the game. If you ignore this step, then Syanna will be killed by Dettlaff after leaving the fairy land and you will obtain the medium ending.

The Little Flint Girl can be found in the small village in the fairy land. You can trade with her and tell her that you would want the Magic ribbon she found. You can obtain the ribbon in two ways - buy it for 500 pieces of gold or win it in gwent (the girl will use Scoia'tael deck). Geralt will automatically give the ribbon to Syanna.

The first additional activity is the possibility to visit three bears. Here you can examine the corpse or try taking the Magic Food from the table. The latter will wake up the three bear and force you to fight them. First kill the young bear that is weaker than the rest. Before the battle you should use beast oil and select Quen or Igni sign as the active one.

The second additional activity is the possibility to take the unordinary Witcher Contract. You must find the notice board in the village (the one with the flint girl). Read the contract in order to unlock the Duck, Duck, Goosed! quest.

First go to the house of the goose. Activate Witcher Senses and follow the trail. You will reach a place where bandits imprisoned the goose. Attack the bandits (their leader is slightly stronger). Once the fight is over, check the corpse of the leader. Take the Cage key and free the goose. You will receive Golden Egg as reward.

You can plant the beans once you get all of them. However, if you skip the optional meeting with the fling girl (walkthrough above), then you will block the good ending. Go to the place marked by the game and be ready to fight some new pixies. After eliminating the enemies use Witcher Senses to find the place where you should plant the beams. Watch a cutscene. After it ends Geralt will be forced to fight the last boss in the fairy land - a giant.

The battle with the Cloud Giant is very similar to the fight with the goliath at the beginning of the Blood and Wine expansion. Before the fight starts, use ogre oil and set Igni as active sign. Once the duel starts, move through the arena and don't let the size of the opponent fool you - one of his special abilities is to move from place to place. Don't attack the giant in the regular way. Instead of that, try to always position yourself near the cages which were recently struck by lightning.

Once that happens, act quickly - set the giant on fire with Igni sign and perform a few strong attacks with your sword. Once the boss regains full strength, move away from him and look for another electrified cage. Repeat the steps until the giant is dead.

Once the battle is won, a new conversation with Syanna will start. This one is more important than the previous talks because if you select the first behavior option shown on the above picture (allowing Syanna to use Geralt), then a sex scene with her will start. You can also refuse her by selecting the second dialogue option - this won't have any negative repercussions.

Regardless whether you've romanced Syanna or not, now go to the narrow pasage, in which you'll se a firefly. It will direct you to a place, where you'll find a rare silver sword - Geshaft.

Jump into the well

No matter what you choose, follow Syanna. Once you reach a large courtyard you must find a new well and then jump into it. This will allow you and Syanna to leave the fairy land. First a short cutscene will start during which you will meet Regis (you can end the sharp conversation between Regis and Syanna in any way you want). The action will soon move to Tesham Mutna ruins (M5,6) where the new main quest Tesham Mutna will start. It will be related to summoning Dettlaff.
