The Sims 4: Exploring the Jungle - marketplace, poison and antidote Sims 4 Guide, tips

Last update: 07 April 2022

During the exploration of the jungle you can find a lot of ancient artifacts, treasure chests and the Trees of Sensation. You'll also take part in various random adventures. You should also learn the basics about poison mechanics. Poisoning may be very dangerous for your Sim.

The vendors sell a lot of useful items.

Consider getting a few items that will help you get past some of the obstacles found during your journey. The equipment can be bought in the marketplace next to "El Arbor Del Jaguar" (the tavern):

  1. Machete - Used to clear the way in the jungle.
  2. Plasma Bat Bait - Used to repel the bat attacks that cause additional stress onto your Sim.
  3. Waterfall in a Bottle - Use this item to completely regain your hygiene.
  4. Dr. Parker's Spider Repellent - Protects against spider bites that cause additional stress on your Sim.
  5. Faraday Fizz - A potion that protects against electrical discharges.
  6. Liquid Rush - A potion that regenerates the energy of your Sim.
  7. Selvadoradian Antidote - Heals food poisonings.
  8. Guzmania Pollenis Flower - Protects against attacking bees.
  9. Lightning Insulation Powder - Protects against electrical insects.
  10. Fire Foam Bottle - Used to douse campfires.

Exploring the Jungle

Clearing the way using your hands is not a good idea.

You can begin your exploration in the location "Belomisia Jungle". You'll encounter a pathway blocked by vines (shown in the screenshot above). These pathways lead further into the jungle. You can unlock them by using the bought machete or Sim's hands (your sim will be injured, making you unable to clear vines for 2 hours).

During your journeys you can encounter friendly animals, as well as dangerous quicksands.

You'll activate a random event after unlocking a pathway (screenshot above). You may e.g. encounter capybaras, a panther, or a sloth or even a mysterious egg. The event is described by a short text with three options to choose from. Depending on your equipment (bought on the market) and Sim's abilities you can either be successful or fail the event. A success comes with a reward, while a failure decreases the happiness of your Sim.

Visiting a Temple

You'll receive the ability to enter a temple in a random moment during your exploration. Temples hold a lot of treasure, but getting through them requires a little bit of effort. There is a locked pathway on every floor of the temple. Unlock them using nearby interactive objects (an example is shown in the screenshot above). Choose "Activate" to unlock four possibilities - one of them is right, and unlocks access to a new item. Choosing a wrong option ends up with an unpleasant side effect - your Sim will either get burned, poisoned or will suffer from urinary incontinence.

There is a treasure chest at the end of each temple containing equipment, artifacts, or Simoleons. The game will inform you if you've managed to complete a temple. You can embark on a new adventure right away - the expansion offers a few types of temples which differ in looks and the placement of the interactive objects. Each time you'll land in a random temple, but the event will look similar to what you can see above.

How poison works and how to obtain an antidote?

While performing tasks (i. e. crossing through continuous zones the jungle) or after activating interactive objects in temples, your Sim can be poisoned. It will stun your Sim and his health will start to deteriorate. Also a rash in form of green spots will appear on his skin. However, the biggest danger is that your poisoned Sim will die after some time if not healed properly. It is better not to wait and give your beloved character an antidote immediately. You can get an antidote in two ways:

  1. Buy it at a computer for 1000 Simoleons.
  2. Receive it from the inhabitants of Selvadorada in exchange for ancient bone dust. You can get it by digging excavations or opening treasure chests.
