Fatherhood, for Beginners is one of the main missions in Red Dead Redemption 2. John decides to take his son for a ride.
How to unlock: After "Simple Pleasures".
Walkthrough: Go to Duncan - the man tries to tame his new horse. Approach the animal, calm it down and feed it (one of the requirements for the gold medal). Time to tire out Jeremiah - get on the horse and start galloping. The fastest way to tire out the animal is to jump over obstacles a lot.
Go back to the farmstead. Observe Duncan riding on Jeremiah. Follow Mrs. Geddes to the barn. Help her with the horse labor. Go back to Jack and Abigail.
Take Jack for a ride - you can control your son's speed. Let him ride with an average speed. Don't let him gallop - Jack will fall off the horse.
The mission ends with a race. To win, you have to ride as fast as you can and stay on the road. At some point, John will go past a forest - turn left. You will make a shortcut, and win the race.
How to get a gold medal in Fatherhood, for Beginners?
- Tire out Jeremiah within 45 seconds - Make the horse jump a lot and gallop.
- Feed Jeremiah a treat - Do that after you calm the animal down.
- Teach Jack to ride without his horse bucking him off - Jack should ride with an average speed - don't let him gallop.
- Win the race back to Pronghorn Ranch - This part was described in our guide for RDR2.
