Treasure Hunt | Side Quests Prey Guide

This page contains a walkthrough for one of the more complex side-quests found in Prey known as Treasure Hunt. The mission involves taking part in a titular treasure hunt prepared by a few Talos I employees. Your task will be to find four treasure maps, search four locations in question and use the gained knowledge to acquire a unique suit chipset.

Note - Avoid trying to input the combination shown in the walkthrough without taking part in the hunt. You need to get past all steps, including finding four maps and seeing the painted digits that make up the code.

Unlocking the task

This task can be unlocked in a few separate locations found on the station. For example, you can begin the hunt by visiting the station belonging to Danielle Sho, which is located in the Command Center on level 2 of Deep Storage. Moreover, the assignment can be activated by checking the station in the recreation center or Danielle Sho's cabin in Crew Quarters. In every case, read the mail titled "Treasure Hunt" to be able to begin the search.

You can now begin the search for the maps. The tips from each note will lead you to painted digits hidden in different parts of the station. Unfortunately, finding each one of them has to be registered by the game, so you cannot simply input the code.

Tip 1 (Rosalyn): Emma Beatty

The note from Emma Beatty (Rosalyn) is found next to her corpse in the corridor between the locker room and swimming pool in the northern part of Crew Quarters' level 2. Search the body and take the note.

Tip 2 (Melindra Shadowcorner): Danielle Sho

The map prepared by Danielle Sho (Melindra Shadowcorner) is found on her station in Command Center (Deep Storage level 2). As you can gather, this is one of the locations where you could have begun the mission. Switch to Files and download the map (screenshot above)

Tip 3 (Hordinbaffle): Zachary West

The map from Zachary West (Hordinbaffle) can be found by searching his body in Arboretum. The body is easily found, as it is an objective of Detour. As a reminder: you can find the body next to a previously unavailable pathway to Deep Storage (screenshot above).

Tip 4 (Stabfellow): Elias Black

The note by Elias Black (Stabfellow) is found in the Crew Quarters, on level 2 of Recreation Center level 2. Search for a note lying on a large table in the conference room.

Find the digit from Rosalyn's map (Emma Beatty)

The first of four digits is found in the Cargo Bay. Finding it requires access to Cargo Bay B which is first unlocked in Shipping and Receiving. The digit is found at the end of the corridor used to access GUTS Loading Bay and Life Support

Note - If you've found a digit, approach it and wait until your quest has been updated. If the quest isn't updated, change your position so the game acknowledges the objective

 

Find the digit from Melindra's map (Danielle Sho)

The next digit is located in GUTS' Fuel Storage (one of the areas without zero gravity). Use one of the upper pathways to find the number (1).

Find the digit from Hordinbaffle's map (Zachary West)

The third digit is found in Water Treatment Facility in Life Support. Begin by taking care of a technopath guarding the large hall. The digit (3) is on one of the walls found left from the entrance to the area.

Find the digit from Stabfellow's map (Elias Black)

The final digit (6) is found in Crew Quarters. Once you've used the main door, use the stairs on your left and enter a small storage room that contains a recycling device. Defeat the opponents found inside and take a look at the wall found left from the recycler (screenshot).

Inputting the code

If you've acquired all four numbers (the task should be left without any additional objectives), travel to Crew Quarters B and make your way to a cabin belonging to Abigail Foy (109). Get access to the computer by Hacking or take a look under the desk to find a note containing the password. Switch to Utilities and input the right code (3156) based on four digits which you've found during the treasure hunt.

If the code was correct, you'll be left with a reward - a fabrication plan for a chipset known Adventurer's Toolkit v1.X. Travel to a nearest fabricator and spend 3 mineral and 2 synthetic units to develop the item.

Adventurer's Toolkit v1.X offers following bonuses:

1. Increased recycler yield
2. Increased wrench critical hit chance
3. A more efficient flashlight
4. Increased movement speed while crouching
