Squad play in PUBG PUBG Guide and Tips

Last update: 13 August 2019

In PUBG, in addition to single player modes, there are also some modes designed for teamplay. This section of the Guide contains information related to the team-based modes.

In Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, you have a choice of four game modes - Solo, Duo, Squad, and 1-Man Squad. The first one allows you to play alone, the second - with one partner, the third allows you to create a team consisting of up to 4 people, and the last one allows a single fight against other teams. In each mode, you play in different ways, and you are waiting for other problems. Each of the modes happens in an imposed perspective - TPP or FPP.

Communication is crucial

In Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, there are three modes to choose from - Solo, Duo and Squad. In the first one, you play alone, in the second one with one other player, and in the last one, with up to 3 other players. In each mode, you play differently and there are different challenges. One of the updates to the game also provides two other modes - Solo FPP and Duo FPP. They are identical with the "regular" modes - the only difference is that you have to play in the First Person Perspective.

While informing your squad where the enemy is, use your compass - there is one at the top of the screen. Instead of saying that the enemy is in front of you, communicate the direction - W, WE or N, which gets everybody on the same page.

Playing as a squad allows you to defend all sides. Normally, you are unable to monitor everything that is going on around, but playing with one another player, and especially in a squad of 4, this will be much easier, on condition that communication does not fail you.

Match voice communications with your tactic. In options, in Sound tab there is an option to adjust Voice Channel - this will allow you to specify if you want all enemies around to hear you speak, or whether you want only your squad to hear you, or nobody. While playing as a squad, it is better to check the Only Squad option - otherwise, the enemy will be able to locate, while you are near and talking.

Stun enemies

In multiplayer modes, enemies become stunned, if they take enough damage. After that, you should finish them off, by shooting at them several times. However, of all the enemies in a single squad are stunned, the entire squad will be killed automatically. Enemies can also carry their companions, when they are stunned - leave no enemies unattended.

You can take advantage of a stunned enemy to set a trap. Stun an enemy (preferably in an open area), but do not finish him off. Wait a moment for his squad mates to appear and to feel safe. When they decide to bring him round, all you will have to do is kill them all off.

Help comrades

Share your gear with your squad mates. There is no point in hoarding all the medkits or boosts, or carry several weapons you don't use, when the rest of them are not fully equipped. Effectiveness of the squad depends on how well each member is equipped.

Remember to keep an eye on your companions' health. Once any of them falls, you can help him, on condition that the enemy has not finished him off. However, do not run headlong to help him, because you may be killed by the enemies who have just shot your squad mate.

Death in squad mode is not ultimate. You can still spectate at the fights and even inform the rest of possible threats - especially if you use an external messaging service). It is a good idea to use that, because you can learn many interesting things this way.

Do not venture away from team

The important thing is to stick to together. It's not necessary to keep within several meters of each other, or even travel on one vehicle, however it is a bad idea to increase the distance to several tens of meters. While traveling in a tight squad, you are going to eliminate enemies easier and support your companions, if something goes wrong.
