Achievements | Pillars of Eternity Pillars of Eternity Guide

Last update: 18 November 2021

On this page you will find a trophy guide to Pillars of Eternity. Each achievement contains a thorough description of requirements for obtaining it. In most cases we have added useful tips related to getting the achievement in easiest way possible. The trophy guide features all achievements available in PC and console versions of the game.

Most important information about the trophies in Pillars of Eternity

  1. The number of trophies varies depending on the platform. The PC version of the game features more achievements than other version - 48. This value includes the achievements from the main campaign and the achievements from the two parts of The White March expansion pack.
  2. The Complete Edition that was released on consoles features much less achievements. The PS4 version features 27 trophies. Xbox One version features 26 achievements to unlock (this version lacks an equivalent of the platinum trophy).
  3. Obtaining all achievements in the PC version of the game is very hard. Many of the achievements require you to complete the game under specific conditions. This might include high difficulty level, not letting any of your comrades die, playing alone without recruiting any party members.
  4. The trophy list in the console version is much simpler. It doesn't feature many of the very hard achievements that are present in the PC version. However, you will still need to invest much time into completing the game since the trophies are related to completing the content of the base game and both parts of The White March expansion.
  5. The two most troublesome trophies in PS4 and XONE versions of the game are Relative Pacifism and Super Murderer. These achievements are related to completing the whole campaign and they exclude each other. As a result, you must complete the main campaign at least twice. Each time, you must play the game differently in order to get one of these achievements.

Achievements available on PC and consoles

Completed Act III

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (silver), XONE.

Victory!!! Won the Game!!!

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (gold), XONE.

How to unlock: Congratulations! You have completed the game.

Commentary: What's important about this achievement is the fact that it is related only to the main campaign. It doesn't require you to play The White March expansion packs. You can beat the game on any difficulty level. Selecting the lowest difficulty will make obtaining the trophy much easier.

You will receive the trophy after you complete the final quest in the base campaign of the game - Memories of the Ancients. The walkthrough for that quest can be found in a separate chapter of our guide.

The Watcher With Eight Friends

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (silver), XONE.

How to unlock: Recruit all companions (excluding those in The White March).

Commentary: As the description suggests, this achievement is related only to the companions encountered during the basic campaign. They are as follows:

  1. Aloth
  2. Eder
  3. Durance
  4. Kana
  5. Pallegina
  6. Sagani
  7. Hiravias
  8. Grieving Mother

The circumstances in which you can find and recruit the characters from the above list can be found on the page Recruitment of adventurers in the chapter Party members.

Important - This achievement doesn't count hired Adventurers as full-fledged adventurers. Recruiting them won't get you any closer to obtaining this trophy.

Enchanter

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (brown), XONE.

How to unlock: Apply 5 or more different enchantments.

Commentary: Enchanting is one of the crafting mechanics available in Pillars of Eternity. You can use it to improve weapons and armor of your party members. In order to unlock this trophy you can enchant any items you want, providing them with new properties. You can read more about enchanting and crafting in the Crafting chapter of our guide.

Chef

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (brown), XONE.

How to unlock: Create 5 or more different food items.

Commentary: Cooking is one of the crafting mechanics available in Pillars of Eternity. Each dish you cook provides temporary boost to statistics. There are 12 main types of dishes in the game:

  3. Dragon Egg Dish
  4. Dragon Meat Dish
  5. Duc's Own Beefloaf

  9. Rauatai Sweet Pie
  10. Savory Pie
  11. Speckleback Jerky
  12. Stew

In order to win this trophy, select five dishes from the above list. Each dish requires different ingredients. In first order you should select meals that you can prepare without having to search for or buy ingredients. You can learn more about cooking and crafting from the Crafting chapter of our guide.

Scribe

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (brown), XONE.

How to unlock: Create 3 or more different scrolls.

Commentary: Creating scrolls is one of the crafting mechanics available in Pillars of Eternity. The game features more than 30 types of scrolls. This gives you a great variety of options to choose from. However, remember that in addition to having specific ingredients, you might need to reach a certain character level for specific items. You can learn more about creating scrolls and about crafting from the Crafting chapter in our guide.

Alchemist

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (brown), XONE - Achievements | Pillars of Eternity - Appendix - Pillars of Eternity Game Guide & Walkthrough

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (brown), XONE.

How to unlock: Create 3 or more different potions.

Commentary: The alchemy is one of the crafting mechanics available in Pillars of Eternity. The game features several dozen types of potions that can be used in various ways (for example, for healing or for boosting statistics). You can freely choose between them for this trophy/achievement. However, remember that in addition to having specific ingredients, you might need to reach a certain character level for specific items. You can read more about alchemy and crafting in the Crafting chapter of our guide.

Trappy

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (brown), XONE.

How to unlock: Place 5 or more trap items.

Commentary: This is a very simple achievement because it doesn't require the opponents to fall into your traps. The simple fact of planting a trap is enough. New traps can be easily found by thoroughly exploring areas - it isn't worth it to waste gold on buying them from merchants just so that you can get the trophy. Just remember to leave all the traps on the ground alone. Don't try to pick them back up.

Relative Pacifism

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (gold), XONE.

How to unlock: Complete the game killing fewer than 175 creatures and NPCs.

Commentary: Important - Relative Pacifism and Super Murderer achievements exclude each other. Among the two mentioned trophies, the Relative Pacifism is much harder to get. You should focus on it during your second playthrough of the game.

You can obtain this trophy by completing the campaign in a very specific way - by avoiding all not mandatory battles. It is even possible to complete the game while performing less than 30 murders. This means that sometimes you can allow yourself to make a mistake or to play an optional battle (for example, in order to earn valuable experience points) and you will still have less than 175 kills at the end of the game. Here are some tips on how to get this achievement:

  1. Select the lowest difficulty level (Story Mode). This will make it much easier for you to survive the battles that are mandatory or very hard to avoid.
  2. Don't complete quests in which you must fight if they don't get you closer to beating the game. Playing quests which lack mandatory battles is strongly recommended. They will provide you with very needed XP.
  3. Develop the main character and the rest of the team to solve problems peacefully, through well conducted conversations. In many situations, you can encourage the attackers to change their minds and abandon their plans to attack your party.
  4. Save the game frequently. Thanks to that, you will be able to quickly fix any mistakes and you won't need to play the game for too long.
  5. Rely on stealth as much as possible. Take advantage of the fact that you already know the locations and the quests from your first playthrough. You should remember where your party can expect some potential threats. This will make it easier for you to bypass them. If you are noticed, you can try escaping and returning to hiding. You don't need to immediately load last save whenever that happens.
  6. Train your skills in lockpicking. In some locations (especially in dungeons) opening some doors might unlock a shortcut and enable you to sneak pass a location with enemies.

Super Murderer

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (gold), XONE.

How to unlock: Complete the game killing 1200 or more creatures and NPCs

Commentary: Important - Relative Pacifism and Super Murderer achievements exclude each other. Among the two mentioned trophies, the Super Murderer is much easier to get. You should focus on it during your first playthrough of the game.

Unlike the trophy described above, in this case you don't need to do anything special while playing the game. However, remember three important things:

  1. Thoroughly explore all locations in the world map - including the optional ones. Travel through each newly discovered map - there are groups of monsters and bandits hiding in many of them.
  2. Explore all levels of the main dungeon in the game - the Endless Paths of Od Nua. There are plenty of optional battles to fight there.
  3. While completing quests, try choosing aggressive behavior patterns - ones that prefer fighting instead of solving matters peacefully.

5 Upgrades in Stronghold

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (brown), XONE.

How to unlock: Complete at least 5 upgrades in the stronghold.

Commentary: Check the description of the trophy All Upgrades in Stronghold.

All Upgrades in Stronghold

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (silver), XONE - Achievements | Pillars of Eternity - Appendix - Pillars of Eternity Game Guide & Walkthrough

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (silver), XONE.

How to unlock: Complete all of the upgrades in the stronghold

Commentary: This trophy isn't very hard to achieve. However, you must be aware that completing all available upgrades will take many days in game's world (at least 52). It will also cost you plenty of gold (more than 30000 coins).

The option to upgrade Caed Nua Fortress becomes available after you complete main quest The Old Watcher, when you reach Caed Nua. The full list of projects for purchase can be found in the Keep upgrades page of our guide.

Additional info - If you want to get this achievement as early as possible, avoid spending gathered gold in shops. If possible, spend them mostly or exclusively on keep upgrades.

From the Clouds to the Depths

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (gold), XONE - Achievements | Pillars of Eternity - Appendix - Pillars of Eternity Game Guide & Walkthrough

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (gold), XONE.

How to unlock: Kill the sky dragon and adra dragon.

Commentary: This is a hard achievement related to dealing with two different, large dragons. The Sky Dragon can be found in The Temple of Hylea - it's one of the final locations of the main campaign and its description can be found in our walkthrough.

Adra Dragon can be found in the deepest, fifteenth level of the Endless Paths of Od Nua - this is definitely the biggest dungeon of all visited in the game world - Achievements | Pillars of Eternity - Appendix - Pillars of Eternity Game Guide & Walkthrough

Adra Dragon can be found in the deepest, fifteenth level of the Endless Paths of Od Nua - this is definitely the biggest dungeon of all visited in the game world. The location is described in our walkthrough. It is recommended to enter the last level of the dungeon during the final phase of the campaign.

Additional information about the confrontations with the big dragons can also be found on a separate page in our guide - Giant dragons lairs.

Appease All of the Gods

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (silver), XONE - Achievements | Pillars of Eternity - Appendix - Pillars of Eternity Game Guide & Walkthrough

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (silver), XONE.

How to unlock: Complete all of the god appeasement quests.

Commentary: You will be taking care of the god appeasement quests during the main quest Court of the Penitents in the act III of the game. There are four quests to complete - one per each deity:

  1. Hylea - The Nest Above the Clouds
  2. Galawain - The Old Queen and the New King
  3. Berath - A Servant of Death
  4. Rymrgand - Into the White Void

Walkthrough for all mentioned quests can be found in the Gods quests in Elms' Reach chapter in our guide. These quests feature various choices. It doesn't matter what decisions you make. In order to get this achievement, all that matters is that you complete all four missions.

Explorer

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (gold), XONE.

How to unlock: Visit every map (excluding those in The White March).

Commentary: Visiting all locations is a quite complicated process - simply reaching locations that appear on the world map isn't enough.

  1. The game will consider location as visited only once you discover all unique areas that are included in it. This includes areas like camps and shrines. As for the caves, you must also walk inside.
  2. Buildings are classified as visited only once you explored all rooms. Some rooms are closed by default and they will become available once you reach a certain point of the story or when you start a specific side quest.
  3. In case of the Endless Paths of Od Nua and other dungeons, don't forget to check all secret chambers. Our World map should be very helpful - all hidden rooms are marked on the maps available in our guide.

We advise you to follow our walkthrough - this will enable you to unlock all quests and optional areas related to some of them. Additionally, we recommend that you perform a manual game save before you reach the finale of the game (before you enter the Pit in the Burial Isle). This is the last point in the game where you can still return to previous locations.

Disposition

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (silver), XONE.

How to unlock: Attain rank 3 in at least three Dispositions.

Commentary: In order to get this achievement, you must gather reputation points in various types of behavior during conversations with NPCs. These behaviors are related to the personality of the protagonist (for example, Diplomatic, Clever, Aggression, Rational). Choose a specific reaction until you reach rank 3 in it. Then, select another one and repeat the process. Finally, do the same with the third disposition.

More information about conducting conversations with NPCs can be found on the Dialogue, Reputation and Stealing page in our guide.

The Storied Adventurer

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (gold), XONE.

How to unlock: Complete a Minor, Average, Major, Grand, and Legendary stronghold adventure

Commentary: Adventures are related to the Caed Nua keep which you reach early in the campaign. These are events that occur randomly, offer random difficulty and random rules. If possible, you should react immediately whenever such event occurs, especially since many of them feature a time limit.

You can learn more about this topic in the Events and Quests page of our guide. Be prepared to probably get this trophy late in the game and only if you haven't ignored the adventures that were triggered during your playthrough. Remember to regularly recruit new party members. Thanks to that, at least one companion can remain in the Keep and react to new events.

The Heir of Caed Nua

Achievement availability: PC, PS4 (brown), XONE.

How to unlock: Defend your position as the master of Caed Nua

Commentary: This trophy is related to a set of quests that was added to the main campaign of Pillars of Eternity in the 3.0 update, when the second part of The White March expansion pack debuted.

You must return to Caed Nua after you visit the main city in the game's world - the Defiance Bay. You should receive a message from the messenger and an additional quest A Call to Court will begin. Once in the village, the party must encounter the corpse shown in the above picture. In the Phylactery's Promise quest you must defeat three strong enemies in the Mowrghek Ien - Llengrath (a powerful mage) and two dragons who accompany him, Turisulfus and Gafonercos.

The dungeon is located under the Caed Nua keep you visit during the main campaign of the game. In order to get this and two previously mentioned achievements, you must explore 15 levels of the dungeon.

Each floor features encounters with enemies, traps, riddles, and treasures. Check the Od Nua chapter in our guide. There, you can find general information about the Endless Paths of Od Nua and a detailed walkthrough for all levels of the dungeon. The description features a map for each of the fifteen floors.

Fish Guts and Murder

How to unlock: Recruit Zahua and the Devil of Caroc as companions.

Commentary: Zahua and the Devil of Caroc are potential new party members. You can recruit them during the first part of The White March expansion pack. Zahua can be encountered near the Fishery and the Devil of Caroc can be found in Galvino's cabin in Durgan's Battery. Check the page New companions in our guide to The White March - there you can find specific information about the circumstances in which both characters can join your party.

Kickstarter Backer

Commentary: This is an unique "achievement". It was given to people who backed the release of Pillars of Eternity via the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.

Legendary Enchanter

How to unlock: Place the Legendary enchantment on one weapon or shield and one armor.

Commentary: this is a more complicated version of the Enchanter achievement. In order to perform a legendary enchantment, you need a Bog Dragon Scale. This ingredient can be obtained by playing The Phylactery's Promise - a side quest available in the second part of The White March expansion pack. This quest was described in our guide to The White March.

You can obtain the scale by completing the mentioned quest in a peaceful way - in that case you must deal with Llengrath and her two dragons.

Path of the Damned

How to unlock: Complete the game on Path of the Damned mode.

Commentary: Path of the Damned is the hardest difficulty level available in Pillars of Eternity. Because it is very challenging, don't attempt to complete it during your first playthrough. It is recommended to become familiar with combat mechanics and with the game world first. Thanks to that, you will know how to prepare for combat and how to avoid potential threats.

Expert

How to unlock: Complete the game on Expert mode.

Commentary: Expert is an additional difficulty level setting that makes the game more challenging. Some of the changes included in this mode are instant death of party members when they lose all HP, deactivation of all hints in combat, deactivation of hints in conversations, deactivation of information about enemy weaknesses, lack of information about the range of casted spells.

Zero Knockouts

How to unlock: Complete the game without any party members hitting 0 Endurance.

Commentary: The best way for securing yourself from losing this trophy is to save the game before each battle. Interrupt the battle and load the game whenever one of your party members becomes unconscious. Luckily, you don't have to worry about the pets - they don't count into this achievement.

Solo

How to unlock: Complete the game without taking any companions after Cilant Lis.

Commentary: The main problem with this achievement is the fact that it requires a separate playthrough. However, you can try to combine it with obtaining the No Rest for the Pro and Relative Pacifism achievements. We recommend getting this achievement on the lowest difficulty level. This will enable you to easily win all mandatory battles.

Triple Crown

How to unlock: Complete the game on Expert, Trial of Iron, and Path of the Damned modes.

Commentary: In addition to selecting the hardest difficulty level, you must also activate the Trial of Iron and Expert modifiers.

Trial of Iron

How to unlock: Complete the game on Trial of Iron mode.

Commentary: Trial of Iron is an additional difficulty setting that blocks the option to freely save the game. All progress is saved automatically. If your party is defeated, the saves are automatically deleted.

You can make playing the game in this mode easier by manually creating copies of the saves. Simply copy the save folder to a different folder on your hard drive from time to time. When you are defeated and the saves are deleted, just place the copied saves in place of the ones erased by the game.

No Rest for the Pro

How to unlock: Complete the game with fewer than 10 rests.

Commentary: The easiest way for obtaining this achievement is to play the campaign on the easiest difficulty level (Story Mode). This will enable you to completely ignore the necessity for sending the party to rest. Playthrough in which you are obtaining this achievement should be additionally combined with attempts at obtaining the Solo and Relative Pacifism (killing less than 175 enemies) achievements.

Triple Crown SOLO

How to unlock: Complete the game on Expert, Trial of Iron, and Path of the Damned modes without taking any companions after Cilant Lis.

Commentary: This is one of the achievements for the players who are looking for an ultimate challenge. For more details about the specific requirements, check the descriptions of the Triple Crown and Solo achievements.

Frozen Crown

How to unlock: Complete the White March and Pillars of Eternity on Expert, Trial of Iron, and Path of the Damned modes.

Commentary: This is a more extensive version of the Triple Crown achievement that was described above. In addition to completing the campaign from the basic version of the game, you must also complete all main quests of both parts of The White March expansion pack.

Frozen Crown Solo

How to unlock: Complete the White March and Pillars of Eternity on Expert, Trial of Iron, and Path of the Damned modes without taking any companions after Cilant Lis.

Commentary: This is one of the achievements for the players who are looking for an ultimate challenge. In addition to meeting the requirements for the Frozen Crown achievement, you must additionally play alone - as described in the section about the Solo achievement.

The Ultimate

How to unlock: Complete the White March and Pillars of Eternity, defeat all dragons, all bounties, and both archmagis on Expert, Trial of Iron, and Path of the Damned modes without taking any companions after Cilant Lis.

Commentary: This is one of the achievements for the players who are looking for an ultimate challenge. It combines the hardest requirements related to beating the game. The necessity to deal with the archmagis and the giant dragons is an additional complication - it will be an extremely challenging task for a single character.
