Manual saves

You can save the game manually by interacting with the discovered save points on planets. These devices are most often found near abandoned bases or buildings.

There is also a portable saving device in the game. To make it, you need 2 metal platings and di-hydrogen jelly. Remember, however, that this device takes up valuable space in your inventory.
