Is it worth to buy a Workshop?
Workshop in Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord is used to earn money in a passive way - that is, you don't have to do any activities to make money after you buy it. You don't have to pay your employees or provide materials for production. The earnings are constantly fluctuating and are usually small - earning 200 gold a day is a good result. However, it is worth remembering that Workshop never brings losses. It may turn out that the Workshop will not earn anything during a particular day. But this won't strain your budget.
In other words, buying a Workshop is a safe investment. One such facility probably won't even cover your soldiers' wages. However, after a long time you will get your gold back. Of course, you can have more than one Workshop - then your earnings will increase.
For comparison - the earnings from caravans can be much higher, but running caravans is also associated with expenses. Whether your caravan makes money or not, you will have to pay for its security every day, and the first days of the caravan's operation usually involve some losses.
How to buy a Workshop?
Buying a Workshop is very easy, but you have to prepare an amount of 13,000 gold pieces. Travel to any city and look for one of the Workshops - Brewery, Tannery, Pottery, Linen Weavery or Olive Press.
You will come across a character named Shop Worker - talk to him and choose the option to buy the local Workshop. If you have enough gold, you can immediately become an owner and choose which production you want to start.
Which Workshop is the best?
It is not obvious which Workshop is the best in Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord. Earnings depend on the location of the Workshop, and more specifically on the resources that are common and cheap in a specific city. Surrounding villages have an impact on this. For example, if a Wool is produced in nearby settlements, a Wool Weavery Workshop will be the best choice. You must also remember that your earnings are affected by the situation in the region. If the surrounding villages are constantly under attack, you won't make much money here.

How to change the type of production?
You can change your Workshop type at any time. This is useful when the object is not earning a lot of money or its earnings are significantly reduced. You can change the production type in the clan's window - in the Other tab choose a particular Workshop and press the Change Production button. This will show a list of all types of production. Each change of production type costs 2000 pieces of gold.
